FEBRUARY/MARCH INFORMATION POST
Hello everyone, it's time for the monthly information post once again! This one is special as it covers two months rather than just one. In the final days of February an event will start, that will last anywhere from a couple days to a few weeks ICly, but it will last throughout all of March OOCly. This event will be fully modded, but how things will go will depend on you. However, no matter the outcome, the results of the event will have game changing consequences. If Melodies of Life was a Final Fantasy game from the PS1 era, you could say March marks the end of Disc 1.
A new batch of "Heroes of Light" shall awaken on February 25th, prisoner in Imperial Territory. Characters who disappeared during the January Event will return then and be at their side. It's up to your characters whether or not the prisoners will escape from captivity. This means going into imperial territory, and it implies everything will be dangerous and unhealthy. Aside from this of course, we have a Valentine event in store for you, and Monster Arena missions are now available.
Reservations open on February 14th at 15:00 EST and applications on February 21st at 15:00 EST.
The Eternal Cycle || February 01st
The battle of the Heroes of Light against the Calamity from the Skies thousands of years ago gave birth to many legends. Among them are romances-- A noticeable one is Valentione's story. This Hero of Light fell in love with one of the Ancients and vowed to protect him and his world. And yet... Before long, she realized an inescapable truth: the Calamity couldn't be defeated and eventually, she would devour all of Crystallis, and the one she loved along with it.
To protect him, she threw herself at the Calamity. In doing so, she hoped the Calamity would devour her world instead of Crystallis, so that the one she loved would survive. A world against another may sound like a senseless sacrifice, but more than that she hoped the Calamity would leave the worlds of every other Hero of Light alone. Her sacrifice was something the Ancient she loved could not bear. His will to live faded and shortly thereafter, he died.
The sacrifice had been in vain.
But the legend doesn't end here, for the feelings that drove Valentione to give her life was something the Calamity could not withstand. The Calamity spit back Valentione's soul into the void between worlds and left her there to decay. And yet... The legend says the bond she shared with her love allowed her spirit to return to Crystallis. No longer a Hero of Light, she was reborn as a native of Crystallis subconsciously looking for the one she had once loved, but she could not find him. It is said she is condemned to reincarnate again and again, forever in a never ending cycle of sorrow.
Is any of this true? No one who's alive knows... Historians tend to think this may be nothing more than a fairy tale vaguely based on a true story. Even then, it is custom for lovers to show their affection and promise to find each other even after death on the 14th of February, the day when the two lovers died according to the legend.
Someday the Dream Will End || February 05th
On the fifth of every month, Heroes of Light have appeared before the Crystal of Fire in Aqures Ixen, but not this month. This time, there is nothing, not even people in Crystal Stasis. There will be nothing in the following days either. What could it mean...?
On the night from the fifth to the sixth of February, all characters will have a dream, the same dream. The content of the dream will be posted on the fifth. This dream will reveal crucial information, should a rescue mission be mounted in order to save those imprisoned by the empire. If your character doesn't sleep during this night, then they'll miss out on the dream.
Slew of Love Letters || February 14th
In the morning of the fourteenth, your character may receive a love letter. An anonymous declaration of love, along with the location for a date in the evening... Surely this has to be a mistake? But no, the letter is clearly addressed to your character. And if they go to the promised location, they will find another Hero of Light-- Doubtlessly the one who sent the love letter. Shall this be the beginning of a beautiful relationship? Or shall this be the end of a friendship?
What your characters won't know is that Moogles are the ones who actually sent the letters. These fluffy creatures have a gift for beautiful poetry and what better than to help people fall in love on this day? And so, both characters present at the date will be convinced that the other is the one who sent the Love Letter. Indeed, Moogles can be quite sneaky.
If you have a pairing you want to play out, feel free to go ahead and do it. If you don't have any idea and would rather have it randomized, then please reply below and we'll randomize a pairing for you. You have until the tenth of February; we will then post the results.
The Heroes of Darkness || February 25th
In the morning of February 25th, a brand new batch of Heroes of Light shall awaken in the Heran Research Center, located in imperial territory. After having seen their reality shatter and collapse around them, these Heroes now find themselves in a brand new world... Prisoner in what seems to be some sort of hospital or laboratory. Their Jobs will not be active, and they won't have any weapons or crystals. No Moogle will be there tell them anything. They may even have brief flashbacks of a woman wearing a badge reading "F. F. Kalki" experimenting on them...
Surely there has to be a way for them to escape?
A log will be posted for new characters to post their introductions. Veterans will not be able to welcome them. Characters who were captured during the attack in Esdham will be in the same room as the new Heroes of Light and will be able to help them understand the situation.
The Imperial Parade || February 27th - March 03rd
Twenty years ago on the third of March, the Kingdom of Hera officially became the Heran Empire. To celebrate the Empire's twentieth anniversary, a week of celebration will be held in the Imperial City, concluding with a Parade, the likes of which were never seen before in Crystallis. Emperor Garland will be present, along with his three closest advisers, the members of the Triumvirate.
Because the Empire desires to use this event to showcase its power, there will be military parades and people from other countries will be invited. Blitzball and Triple Triad players, actors and actresses and even schoolchildren may get invited to witness the celebrations or even participate in them. Airship pilots can come as well, as they are to pilot airships going in. Of course, most people are terrified of the Empire, so few are those who will accept to go-- And thus giving a chance to characters who signed up for these employments in January or before to go if they so wish.
Needless to say, security around the Imperial City and the border with Esdham will be at its maximum for the entire duration of the celebrations. Trying anything would be little more than suicide. However, as a consequence, security will be lowered everywhere else, including in the Heran Research Center.
A New Hope || February/March XXth
Maybe the new Heroes of Light will safely escape on their own, but most likely they won't. Neither will those who were captured last month. Their only hope is the characters who are still free in Aqures Ixen. Any infiltration in imperial territory relating to this within the next month will be fully modded-- However, it is up to you to use whatever information you have at your disposal to set up the best possible rescue plan.
There is plenty of information in this post you can use, information that was revealed in past months and more soon to come with the dream. You can also question us for answers, although some things we may not answer. Feel free to use the thread below to plot and throw ideas.
Threads are still ongoing but there is enough information by now to say Esdham was saved and the Black Widow was defeated! As such, the President lives and Esdham is still going strong. The results are not perfect however, as nobody protected the airport and so, it was burnt and ravaged. There is not enough information yet to say whether or not the Bevelle crashed. Either way, the results and rewards are as follow:
• Each character who participated in the event will receive a 30 000 Gils reward from the government of Esdham. Characters who died will receive 10 000 more Gils and an Elixir whereas those who were wounded will receive only 5000 more Gils and a Mega Potion. Characters who fought against the Black Widow will receive 20 000 more Gils.
• Characters employed in Esdham's Army or in Aqures Ixen's Law Enforcement and who participated in the event will receive a medal for what they have done. Their medal will be given either by one of Esthar's Minister or by Biggs, depending on whether they work in Esdham or Aqures Ixen.
• The Mognet Office was saved! Characters who participated in protecting the Mognet Office will receive a bag of Kupo Nuts along with a Thank You letter signed by Artemicion.
• The Airport was burnt and ravaged. It will take until March 15th for the Airport to be operational once again.
• The coliseum was saved! Characters who protected the Coliseum will receive an invitation to come and see the next competitions from the Staff Lodge.
• A lot of civilians were saved! Civilians who were protected will send a "thank you" letter to the Hero(es) who saved them, some with gifts. It may be a good occasion to make friends with some of the natives!
• Yuffie, Yuna (OU), Rikku and Luffy have all been captured by the Empire and are now missing.
The Monster Arena is finally open and there are quests characters can fulfill! To do so, go here and reply to the appropriate thread.
Capture Every Monsters!
For the Monster Arena to fully re-open, one of each existing monster has to be captured first, with the exception of Hamsters as defeating them is next to impossible right now. You do not have to log your character capturing weak monsters, but it is recommended logging it when going against the powerful ones (those with a lot of stars). Just reply to the appropriate thread in the monster arena, but be reasonable (it is doubtful a character could take on a Malboro alone or capture tons of monsters at once).
Reward: 7 000 Gils per captured monster. 2 000 for duplicates.
Reward: Job "Dancer" once one of every monster has been captured.
Capture a Chocobo Eater!
Chocobo Eaters tend to lurk around the Chocobo Farm. Go there and capture one! For this, you have to log the battle and post it as proof. Each character participating in the battle against the Chocobo Eater will receive a reward. Please look here for details regarding the Chocobo Eater and how to handle a battle against it.
Reward: Invisibility Crystal (unlocks the sealed skill of the Ninja Job).
• February 01st - February 13th
Mognet will function normally.
• February 14th
All letters will be pink and envelopes will be decorated with hearts.
• February 15th - February February 26th
Mognet will function normally.
• February 27th - March 03rd
The delay to receive and send Mognet letters will be twice as long as usual due to higher traffic than usual.
• March 04th - March 31st
Mognet will function normally.
• February 05th - February 08th (Esdham)
The Mognet Office of Esdham will go into strike. Any letters sent from or to the Region of Esdham will not pass until the end of the strike.
• March 04th (Imperial Territories)
All Mognet communications between imperial territories and the rest of the world will be cut from then on.
• March 15th - March 31st (Civilian Mognet)
Mognet will close for an indeterminate amount of time. Moogles assigned to the Heroes of Light, the government and law enforcement employees will be unaffected by this.
All Heroes of Light have a permit allowing them to board Airships from Shoopuf Airline© for free. Shoopuf Airline is a civilian company handled by Hypello. At this point in time, the following cities can be reached thanks to Shoopuf Airline: Balicea, the County of Flence and Trano Golsaucia. To reach Aerilon, one has to rent a ship at Balicea and access the city by sea.
Following the attack on the Republic of Esdham last month, Heroes of Light are now allowed to reach the city by Airship. A special airship is dedicated to going from Esdham to Aqures Ixen. All Imperial Territories are off-limit. As Airships stop by four cities, it takes them approximately 12 hours to go from their departure point to their arrival point. Trips to Esdham take only a couple hours. Chocobos are allowed to board airships.

Two new Jobs have been added: Beastmaster for those who want to fight alongside their pets and monsters, and Onion Knight for those who have maxed out at least one Job. You can check the Job List here.
