Dating Auction anyone?

Hello everyone. For all the new players, I'm Miki and I play the OC Saori Nakagawa.

I just wanted to test the waters on this idea I had for a fun player plot since I don't have everyone on plurk. Brigid, Saori's moogle, feels like her hero could use a night off with a date. At the same time, she's sure Saori's not the only hero in need of one.

The solution? Date auction.

I'm still working out details but I thought I should reach out since I've never done a player plot before. I'm going to extend this to both heroes and moogles because they need love too. They can sign up themselves or others can nominate someone to be on the auction block. Dates aren't obligated to be romantic and of course handwaving the date is an option. Just remember to keep the dates civil, have fun, don't murder anyone, and no burning down buildings. Most of the proceeds will be put into improving the mognet or any other facility still in need of help. Those who got auctioned off will receive a small portion of the bid as compensation too.

On the OOC front, posts for sign ups/plotting will be up along with an IC one. Sign ups will close at a specific time TBD. The auctions themselves will have a cut off time too and a thread will announce the winners for each bid.

So what do you guys think? Would this be enough or do we need more options? I may need help with the more time based stuff since my timezone can be brutal with sort of thing. And if you do wish to add me on plurk, I'm at kansaiphones.

EDIT: As to when this would happen, I'd like to do it after the time loop event if mods are okay with this.

My characters aren't very dateable but I'm up for someone signing up Mimi here since she's too shy to do it herself! Annie, Barkeep's Moogle, can sign herself up.

I think that the bidding can take place over the course of two OOC days to account for time zone differences.

Rukia, Chappopo, and I are all on board with this. I can help too, my timezone is PST.

Rukia won't get it, but she does want to support Mognet, and it can't hurt to learn more about human customs and traditions. Just don't expect her to get all romantic. Chappopo, on the other hand...

I would most definitely be up for signing Morgan up for this, along with (probably) Zelos.

Morgan doesn't really know what he's getting himself into, but it sounds fun, and Zelos...Zelos would play it for all it's worth.

I'm so in, it hurts. Sparks will debate signing up, but he'll also think he'll score a pretty big amount of money, because ego. :P His moogle, Red, will probably sign herself up as well!

Johnny and Graham won't sign up, and their moogles aren't the type to do it for them. So I'm going to need someone else to do it. :V Help me out, guys.

I am all for this, and I think the basic outline you've got there is pretty much all we need. Timing-wise, I think it'd probably be best to plan it for after the time loop event since a lot of current plotting is focused on that.

Neither of my girls would sign themselves up for this, but Chiaki's moogle probably would. Levy's wouldn't sign her up since he's in love with her, but maybe a well-meaning guildmate could oblige? Because I desperately want to inflict this on her.

You already know I agree with this 100% and that Minako would offer to set up the winners dates...Under the disguise of Hero of Love.

I already know who would sign up who and it's mostly moogles and one or two cases of both sides signing each other up.

Oh, my gosh, this would be hilarious and I'd gladly get into this if it happened!

Though, I can tell you right now, all three of my characters' Moogles would sign Tsubomi, Sonic and Deadpool up for this (Tsubomi would be too nervous and has a horrible track record for falling in love, Sonic doesn't do dating and Deadpool's kinda-sorta married and his Moogle would sign him up for revenge.)

Oh geez yes. And both of my characters, really, are the precise kind of manipulative to sign themselves up, sign other people up, bid on dates with other people as well, just, if you need enablers, hi, their names are Jack and Kaji.

Dates and Time planning/suggestions

Okay, so our awesome and lovely mods have given the okay to do the auction after the time loop event!

So that gives us from the 26th to October 9th. ICly, the sign up period would be 1 day while the auction is one evening. On the OOC side, to compensate for timezone differences, both will open for two days.

I was thinking of the 27th or 28th as the sign up day and October 3rd would be the actual auctioning night. That way everyone can get some time to prepare for it.

EDIT: Also does anyone know a place where we can hold the auction?

Is that alright with everyone or is that cutting it too close? Please feel free to add your suggestions here and thanks for being patient with me.

Sounds good on all fronts! Ophelia'll sign herself up, and sign Vinny up too. He'll go through with it for charity (and personal sense of honor, even if he didn't sign himself up). Debating putting Betel-Po and Lydia in. :)
