Event: Triple Triad World Championship

A year ago was the Blitzball World Cup. Aqures Ixen won and now, it is time for the Triple Triad Championship! Countries do not participate in this, but individuals. Indeed, anyone has a chance to participate in and win not only the title of best Triple Triad player in Crystallis, but the fabulous prizes awarded to the top competitors.
Sign-ups for this are open till the 17th, at which point the competitions will properly open. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them below!

When it comes to the Triple Triad World Championship, participants come in with impressive titles and descriptions. This is a mean to throw off the opponent and play mental games... But most importantly, it is to make playing cards more exciting than it actually is. As such if you sign-up a character, it is your supreme duty to come up with a name and title for them that would put wrestling champions to shame. If you need inspiration and examples, you can look at these NPCs who will participate in the Championship (and lose):
Captain Airship ([NPC] Cid)
The engineer who defeats you faster than an Airship's top flight speed!
The Great Moogle ([NPC] Mograma)
The calamity that brings death to card players...
The Epic Gilgamesh ([NPC] Gilgamesh)
The most powerful triple triad player in all of the interdimensional rift!
Along with your sign-up form, you must pick 15 Triple Triad Cards, from the FFVIII Deck. Why fifteen? Because of the random rule, of course! You can find the list of Triple Triad cards here. Your deck needs to consist of:
x5 Level One – Two Cards
x4 Level Three – Four Cards
x3 Level Five Cards (PuPu cannot be picked)
x2 Level Six Cards
Additionally, depending on your character’s experience and skills, they may have bonus cards in their deck. These cards may give them the edge they need to win in the competition:
Expert – A Level 8/9 and a Level 10 Card
“I eat Triple Triad players for breakfast.”
Good – A Level 8 and a Level 9 Card
“I press the square button whenever I see a NPC.”
Casual – A Level 6 and a Level 8 Card
“I play this game once in a while, but man do I hate the same/plus rules!”
Novice – A Level 7 Card
“I’ve played this game before and really, the sad truth is that I suck.”
Beginner – No Advantage
“Triple Triad? What is Triple Triad?”

If you forgot the rules or need to learn them, you can check them here! Each participant will play three games with different rules. Whoever earns the most point wins the Championship! It’s as simple as that. If there are characters sharing the number of points, they’ll go through special games till a winner is left. Once the sign-ups closed, you will be told who you will face for these three games. You will also be told what are your cards for the games with the Random rule. It is however your duty to play the card games to the end and reply to the moderator with the results. If you do not give results before the end of the month, it will be considered a draw.
1st Game: No Rules
2nd Game: Open / Same / Plus
3rd Game: Random / Same / Plus
Special Game: Same / Plus / Sudden Death
Victory: 03 Points
Draw: 01 Points

In the case where one of the players win with nine of the cards on the table, there is a bonus and malus applied:
Perfect Win: + 01 Point
Total Loss: -01 Point
The winner will get to face the current Champion: Biggs. If they do win against him, they’ll get a bonus on top of the prize for winning the Championship.

• Double Exp
Anyone participating in this event will have double experience for the month. Practically speaking, this means their equipped Jobs will progress of two months instead of one! Alternatively, you can get Double exp by participating to one of the Player Plots.
