OCTOBER INFORMATION POST

— Crystallis Will Be Destroyed in Seven Months —

Hello everyone, it's time for the monthly information post once again! The time of Night of the Thirteen Moogles is growing close once again, the counterpart of Halloween in Crystallis. Those who were these past two years may be familiar with the lore, but for everyone else the legend of the great moogle king is written below!

The event this month will involve evil machines, possession by malevolent spirits and zombies-- Nothing out of the ordinary for the Night of the Thirteen Moogles really. As per usual, it will culminate in a grand finale on October 31st. Besides the event, there are also three players plot upcoming: one is in the Halloween vein while the two others are attempts to pierce at the secrets from the overarching plot. Should you have any questions regarding all of this, please feel free to post them here.

The Legend of King Moogle Mog XIV || October 01st
Long ago, before the Calamity from the Skies descended upon Crystallis, Moogles answered to a sovereign. Under the reign of their Kings and Queens they were a powerful people who lived in peace alongside the Ancients-- Long before the Humans, Tarutarus, Elezen, Bangaa and Hypellos even appeared. Most of these sovereigns were good and revered by their people. But not all were so... The last of these sovereign, King Moggle Mog XIV, was known to be a cruel ruler who above all thirsted for power and had dreams of conquest. When the Calamity threatened to end all life, King Moggle Mog XIV did not join the Ancients in their fight. No, instead he devised a plan, a mad plan that nearly cost all hopes of victory against the Calamity.

His plan was to let the Calamity destroy the world, but he entertained a foolish hope. He hoped to become her ally and thus be spared. This way, he could build his eternal kingdom upon the ashes of the old world, with none left to oppose his rule. Few were the Moogles who shared his dream, even fewer were those ready to go to such lengths. But the King was cruel and he did not tolerate impertinence from his subjects. Waging war on the Ancients and tormenting those who dared disobey him, the mad king went on with his plan to help the Calamity.

But he failed. Eventually, in their quest to save Crystallis, the Heroes of Light came to face King Moggle Mog XIV and his twelve closest advisers. The battle was long and fierce, but the king and his cohorts were defeated. Yet... Before dying, King Moggle Mog XIV cursed all Moogles and Heroes of Light. With his dying breath, he swore that he would one day return to exact divine punishment upon those who had been disloyal to him and take revenge upon those who had defeated him. Ever since then, the Moogles never had a king again.

Is this story true? Nobody knows, but past events seem confirm this legend. Two tears ago, with the help of Kalki and Palitutu, twelve Moogles tried to revive King Moggle Mog XIV by manipulating the Heroes of Light and committing misdeeds. However, this plan was thwarted. The leader of the twelve Moogles, Mograma, was captured and the Heroes of Light were victorious. But the remaining Eleven Moogles weren't done yet... The year after that they returned and woke the spirits of the dead in an attempt to summon a giant (and tasty) image of their King... Made of Marshmallow. Even though they tried to weaponize the crystallized characters to cement their victory, the Heroes of Light prevailed and cast back the evil king back to the afterlife, leaving his eleven pawns dead.

The legend as a whole is very popular amongst Moogles, even more so thanks to the Heroes' past deeds. King Moggle Mog XIV has become akin to an incarnation of evil in the eyes of Moogles. To ward off the spirit of the mad king and prevent his revival, it has become customary for people to decorate their homes and disguise themselves in the most terrific possible way, on the day the past Heroes of Light slayed King Moggle Mog XIV and the current ones prevented his resurrection: October 31st. Originally, it was to scare away the spirit of the evil king, but now it mostly is just an ocasion for people to celebrate and have fun. It is also customary to eat Kupo Nuts in mass quantities on this day, as the legend say the mad king starved his people and refused them their favorite food. Other species tend to replace Kupo Nuts with candies. Children and of course Moogles are particularly fond of this celebration, known nowadays as "The Night of the Thirteen Moogles."

Starting October 01st, characters will find Moogles and other people working on decorating Aqures Ixen and Mysidia with decorations similar to those used for Halloween. It is a slow process, more so with the ongoing repairs, and it will reach its peak on October 31st. Moogles and Children are the most excited ones obviously, but all sort of people seem to be looking forward to the celebration. The cities of Trano Golsaucia and Balicea will be going through the same decoration process.

The Wrath of Mogespeare || October 23rd
The special Moogle-inspired equipment introduced last month in O'aka's shop is going to start malfunctioning in unexpected ways. Prior to the 20th, it will only be minor malfunctions, such as a Mogitek Armor accidentally targeting an ally instead of the enemies or a Kuppopet accidentally kicking its owner's knee.

Attempts at fixing the machines or destroying them won't go so well, as it'll look as though the machines can work even when broken and if they are too damaged, they can even fix themselves...This will affect the gear bought by PCs and that possessed by a few random NPCs who bought it as well. It is not late for you to make your purchase, either.

But starting on the 20th, the machines will no longer be happy simply malfunctioning. The Heroes of Light owning Moogle equipment will be possessed by some manner of malevolent entities, ones that enjoy saying 'Kupo' a lot... Who ever could they be? The possessed Heroes will find they are far more resistant to pretty much everything ontop of having far deeper voices than usual and unnatural abilities-- Such as being able to completely turn their head around. They shall then go on a killing spree with their evil machines.

But as it is, in this event death isn't an end in itself. Indeed, anyone getting murdered during the duration of the event will come back as an undead entity under the control of the possessed Heroes-- With the wounds never healing, of course. Players who bought the Moogle equipment will be given instructions so they can play their characters possessed's self and there will be sign-ups for you to have your character come back as an undead.

An OOC Post detailing the event will be posted prior to the 23rd of October.

Mission: Downapolis || October 01st - October 07th
The city of Downapolis has been a source of strife for the Heroes for some time. The Cult of Narayana centered there fights for the Calamity, attacked Heroes of Light during the "Another Side, Another Story" event, and their leader is an Avatar. Previous intelligence gathering revealed that the leader is assisted by a female Bard, but not much headway has been made into fighting back or learning more.

Ales Mansay, with Biggs' approval, has rounded up a task force to infiltrate the Cult and capture the leaders. From preliminary scouting missions, the city itself is being deserted, yet the Sapphire Crystal used in the Mysidian Tower is still protecting the area. Their jobs is to sneak in, fight off any hostile Cult members, and find out what's going on.

For more information, please take a look at this post!

The Crystal Caves || October 10th - October 16th
Jade is taking a team down into the tunnels underneath the Crystal Tree of Life. The First Crystal is said to lie in the center of the planet, just barely sustained by the spiritual energy drained from other worlds... Perhaps finding it will be the first step to healing Crystallis and ending this cycle of sacrifices?

More will be posted regarding this player plot in the first half of October.

The Moogle Test Of Courage || October 20th
Throughout the month of October letters will go out to different recipients, Moogles and Heroes alike. The Moogles will be invited and encouraged to take part in a traditional "Test of Courage", and those who can brave the shadowy path from the old abandoned mountain shrine north of Aqures Ixen will find a great reward. The Heroes on the other hand will be asked to come help take part in running this spooky adventure, to dress up as monsters and ghosts and prepare a party at the hotsprings behind the shrine to show thanks to their moogles and all their hard work. The letters will also of course encourage to keep all of this secret from their diminutive companions.

Of course, all the stories about the old shrine and the forest and cave behind it being haunted really are just stories...right? More will be posted regarding this player plot by the second half of October.

The next quest of the Monster Arena is a part of the event, therefore it will become available on October 23rd once at least one character has become an undead. It will no longer be available after the event.

Capture Zombies!
The Monster Arena dude has heard of these undead Heroes of Light and is very interested in adding them to his collection of monsters. Whilst it may sound unethical, should the still normal Heroes defeat the undead ones, this might be a good way to keep them from killing anyone till the end of the event...

You have to log your character defeating and capturing an undead Hero of Light. Characters can work together to capture an undead Hero of Light, but only one of them will receive the reward. Each character can only receive the reward three times. If they bring in a fourth undead Hero, the old man will take it in but they will not be paid for it.

Individual Reward: 20 000 Gil per captured undead Hero of Light.

• October (all month)
All envelopes and paper provided by Moogles will be orange.

• October 01st - October 22nd
Mognet will function normally.

• October 23rd - October 30th
Mognet will be slow and unreliable due to the increasing number of undead and possessed characters.
Letter may get lost or distributed to the wrong person.

• October 31st
Mognet will exceptionally be down.

All Heroes of Light have a permit allowing them to board Airships from Shoopuf Airline© for free. Shoopuf Airline is a civilian company handled by Hypello. At this point in time, the following cities can be reached thanks to Shoopuf Airline: Balicea and Trano Golsaucia. To reach Aerilon, one has to rent a ship at Balicea and access the city by sea. A special airship is dedicated to going from Esdham to Aqures Ixen. All Imperial Territories are off-limits.

As Airships stop by four cities, it takes them approximately 12 hours to go from their departure point to their arrival point. Chocobos are allowed to board airships.

Will the Ghostbuster job have any effect on zombies? Or are Heroes better off sticking with Holy magic?

ALSO, Heroes killed in this event to become undead won't be perma-killed, right? I mean, the characters might not know that ICly, but just in case.
