Many things have changed in the five years the Heroes were missing, and not just in the landscape. The residents of Crystallis - of all species - have found different directions to take their lives. Here is a sample of what these beloved NPCs have been up to.

CID OF ROALIE

Without the obligation to attend to the Heroes' needs, Cid found the time to relax and explore what he truly wanted in life. He opened a café called KwehBucks in Aqures Ixen in the year following the Apocalypse and currently has multiple shops in the city and The Village of Santa Claus. He is seeking to expand his business to the other continents. When asked about potentially returning to science, Cid answered that he learned he much enjoys the simple life of a commoner, free from having any world-threatening responsibilities.

BIGGS AND WEDGE

To pass the time, Biggs and Wedge sought out new hobbies in the World of Ruins. After several months of trial and error, they found their hidden talent in entertainment. They had done exclusive events and presented at meetings, offering a new brand of stand-up comedy to the masses that desperately need humor. Their two-man routine has achieved moderate success and is currently doing a run in Aerilon II, followed by a show in the Moogle Refuge.

PROFESSOR PALITUTU

Palitutu remains in a coma, and in her vegetative state, potatoes have begun sprouting from her tiny body. Surprisingly, these potatoes are more intelligent than your average tuber, and they have evolved a method of communication through their network of roots. The laboratory hired their first researcher from outside the animal kingdom, and the potatoes show no sign of rotting anytime soon. They're doing science and they're still alive.

KALKI-RAMZA

Kalki continues to possess Ramza, having finally gotten used to a noseless existence. Her palace is guarded by the magic of the four crystals as she awaits to be merged with the Calamity in the comfort of her personal lair. However, waiting for ultimate power can get boring, so she has redesigned the interior to provide various amusements. Her personal favorite is the giant ballpit in the center of her dungeon. She must never be interrupted while in there, or else the intruder will face her wrath.

MOOGLES

As travel across the world became too dangerous for Moogles to traverse, Mognet has fallen out of fashion. However, the intrepid balls of fluff refused to be put out of a job and designed a method of communication that sends invisible messages through the air! All you need is a computer terminal, the special code Mograma designed, and boom! Instant message. They are all very proud of their creation, judging by how often they send humorous images with text printed on them to the Pupus. If you ask nicely, you can buy a Kupo-net terminal for only 10,000gil!

THE SAGE OF MYSIDIA

During the mass evacuation of Mysidia, the Sage refused to leave until the last minute, complaining that this was his home for the last fifty years and that he was too old to move somewhere new, and will you kids get off his lawn?! Eventually, five strong Mysidians picked him up and carried him out of his house despite the kicking and screaming. As of now, the Sage spends his days reminiscing about the old days and travels around the neighborhood on a magic carpet and offering house-to-house soothsaying.

A FORBIDDEN LOVE AMONG MONSTERS

Having new dominion over the world, Calamity T-Rexes and Calamity Raptors have competed for control over the continent. However, this has resulted in a bloody feud between the two dynasties, and their hatred for one another has only grown over the past five years. Amongst this turmoil, a young T-Rex and a young Raptor have fallen in love, willing to risk their families' ire to be together. Will they run away to another land and be married, or will their story end in tragedy?

HEROES OF ZE SHOOPUFF

Twelve new Heroes have taken up the role of protecting the civilians of Crystallis from the forces of evil. With the almighty power of the Hypello Knight, a band of Hypello travel the lands, fighting monsters and saving innocents from monsters and Kalki's machinations. Perhaps the whole "saving the world" business can be left to them while the Heroes of Light catch a break.
