DECEMBER INFORMATION POST
Hello everyone, it's time for the monthly information post again! To new players, we hope you will enjoy playing here and to veteran players, we hope you are enjoying the game so far. If you are new, please feel free to introduce yourself in the OOC community if you so wish, and a log will be posted on the fifth of December for new characters. Like usual, new characters will be housed with characters already in-game.
This post details the small events that will punctuate this month. Should you have any questions regarding this month's happenings, please feel free to post them here.
Christmas in Crystallis || December 01st
Long ago, back when the Calamity from the Skies descended upon Crystallis to destroy this world, most of the Ancients were killed. Few adults survived and by the time the Heroes of Light appeared to fight the calamity, a lot of the surviving children had lost everything. One of the Heroes refused to fight, and instead decided to take care of the children. He wanted to help them forget about the events that had transpired-- To make them happy, even if for only a short amount of time. According to the legend, the name of this man was "Santa Claus."
This Hero of Light didn't have the power to accomplish this on his own. Yet, he said this didn't matter, he said that all that was needed was a bit of kindness and 'christmas spirit,' and so he asked the Moogles for help. Following the betrayal of their king and his death, the Moogles were left ravaged, leaderless and on the brink of despair. They accepted Santa's request for help, and after some convincing, they did as he asked. On the night from the 24th to the 25th of December, the Moogles brought presents to all the children. The presents weren't much, but they were enough to bring a smile to their faces.
The Moogles enjoyed doing this so much, that most of them decided to keep taking on request and delivering the things people needed. And this is how Mognet came to be.
Or so do the legends says anyway. Is this true? No one knows. The only certainty is that on every December, the inhabitants of Crystallis celebrate what happened then and call it the "Starlight Celebration," though some regions keep calling it differently-- Christmas in Flence and Balicea or Noël in Esdham as Santa called it. But the idea is the same: for people to celebrate together this beautiful event and offer gifts to each other on the 25th of December.
Starting on the 01st if December, the cities of Aqures Ixen, Balicea and Flence will be decorated as per Christmas tradition: christmas trees will be present, and so on. Trano Golsaucia is already decorated, Aerilon will have some decorations as well and while Esdham does celebrate, the city will not have any decorations. Furthermore, as a reminder, Aqures Ixen and Trano Golsaucia are covered with snow.
The Starlight Arrivals || December 05th
In the morning of December 05th, a brand new batch of Heroes of Light shall awaken in the vicinity of the Crystal of Fire, located in the third district of Aqures Ixen. After having seen their reality shatter and collapse around them, these Heroes now find themselves in a brand new world... And with floating balls of fur as their greatest allies! Furthermore, they are now wielding mysterious new powers granted to them by the Crystal they hold. The Heroes will be granted their Mognet rights, a house and told everything (or nearly) they need to know about their 'destiny'.
This will mark the fifth time Heroes of Light have appeared ever since August on top of visiting the city, new characters will have the chance of seeing it in all of its Christmas glory!
The Starlight Activities || December 01st - 31st
The Starlight Celebration is a worldwide event celebrated everywhere: as such, more than any others, this month will have activities your characters can take part in. There is no Moogle to hunt this time around, but traveling and discovering new places and things to do may be a fun thing in itself.
Christmas Markets (Flence, Balicea)
Are you looking for gifts, decorations or souvenirs? Or maybe you just want to admire the beauty of illuminated markets past nightfall-- It is very beautiful after all and there are plenty of things to find, and sometimes for great prices. If so, those Christmas Markets are perfect for you! The market at Balicea offers better prices and while there is also a Christmas Market at Aerilon, there are no decorations and it is overall much less friendly compared to Flence's and Balicea's.
Hiring Santa (Trano Golsaucia)
Have you dreamt of being Santa or Mrs Claus? Or maybe a Reindeer or even a Moogle-Elf? No? Well, that's your opportunity anyway! Just for the holiday season, Trano Golsaucia is hiring people willing to wear costumes of these characters and be kind to children. It's a well paid job, all in the Christmas, or rather Starlight spirit!
Visiting Santa (Trano Golsaucia)
Have you ever dreamt of meeting Santa? Yes? Then your dream may come true in Trano Golsaucia! Many Santas are working to listen to the children's wish list. Or maybe even to the grown-up's. Either way, this city is a dream for children, even more so at this time of the year.
Fighting Santa (Esdham)
It is said that Esdham does the Starlight Celebration wrong. This is probably true as it is custom for people fighting in the coliseum to do it with a Santa Claus costume. Seeing Santa Clauses fighting each other is a sight to behold at least once. Or maybe you can even get into one of the battles and don the Santa costume for the ocasion.
Gift Delivery (Aqures Ixen)
The government of Aqures Ixen hires people to dress as Santa and his side-kicks too, but for a specific purpose: from the 10th to the 25th of December, they are to distribute gifts to the poorest children in the city. But more than that, they've got to do it with style: using Job skills to make gift delivery look unique and make sure the children got something grandiose to remember.
Christmas Carols (Everywhere)
Christmas music is generally considered beautiful and unique, and the Starlight Celebration has tunes similar to what people familiar with Christmas may know. Such music can be heard in all the major cities for the entirety of the month.
Hypello Choir (Balicea)
There are people singing Christmas Carols in Balicea as well, but this city is quite unique in that the choir is composed of Hypellos and Tarutarus exclusively. Between the voice of most Tarutarus and the accent of Hypellos, no Starlight Celebration is complete without hearing this choir at least once.
Ice Skating (Trano Golsaucia)
With very low temperature comes snow and ice. Outdoor ice skating can be practiced in Trano Golsaucia, and for free! This is not exclusive to the Starlight Celebration, as Ice Skating will last up until January.
Christmas Play (Flence)
There are christmas plays everywhere, but Flences' are by far the most famous and generally the most well received ones. The best Christmas Play is called "The True Story of Santa Claus" and relates the story narrated above about what the Hero of Light named Santa Claus did. Some people say he even still lives on Crystallis somewhere...
The Starlight Celebration || December 24th - 25th
Late in the afternoon of the 24th and continuing into the evening, the festivities for the Starlight Celebration will begin. Banquets, Christmas dinners, choirs singing Christmas Carols and people disguised as Santa Claus-- It looks like Aqures Ixen is giving it its all on the 24th, but even more awaits for the 25th! And who knows, maybe Santa will have brought your character something? They say he doesn't exist, but...
It is also traditional for people to spend the Starlight Celebration among friends and family, warm at home late in the evening. So after the celebrations of the 24th are done, it might be a good idea to go back home and spend time with friends. A log for the celebrations of the 24th and 25th in Aqures Ixen will be posted a few days before Christmas.
The New Year || December 31st
While the passing from a year to another isn't as big of an event as the Starlight Celebration, it is still celebrated with fireworks in all major cities. There are gatherings of people in Aqures Ixen and Trano Golsaucia in particular, if only to conclude what is one of the most celebrated week in the year, and wish to each other the best possible year to come.
There is also an airship that departs from Aqures Ixen and goes all the way to the County of Flence at midnight-- So New Year lasts even longer than normal thanks to the magic of timezones. There will be no log posted for New Year, but players are free to make their own.
Secret Santa || December 01st - 09th
All of you probably know what a Secret Santa is, and this is the perfect thing for Christmas in Crystallis. Well, one is organized ICly by Bloom and OOCly by her mun, Lisa. Characters can sign-up themselves ICly or be set up by someone else. Sing-ups are already open and will remain open until the 09th, with possible extensions for new players and characters if ever they get in late. Please take a look here for more details!

Mognet official papers and envelopes are decorated with christmas colors: blue, green and red. Furthermore, Moogles are strongly encouraged to wear a Santa hat and sing Christmas Carols upon delivering letters. Mognet Employees have to do the same.
• December 01st - December 15th
Mognet will function normally.
• December 16th
Mognet will be closed for temporary maintenance.
• December 17th - December 24th
Mognet will function normally.
• December 25th
Mognet will be closed for the Starlight Celebration. Moogles will deliver letters only if they want to.
• December 26th - December 31st
Mognet will function normally.
All Heroes of Light have a permit allowing them to board Airships from Shoopuf Airline© for free. Shoopuf Airline is a civilian company handled by Hypello. At this point in time, the following cities can be reached thanks to Shoopuf Airline: Balicea, the County of Flence and Trano Golsaucia. To reach Aerilon, one has to rent a ship at Balicea and access the city by sea. The Republic of Esdham's airspace is currently closed to civilian airships, to reach it one has to use a Chocobo. All Imperial Territories are off-limit.
As Airships stop by four cities, it takes them approximately 12 hours to go from their departure point to their arrival point. Chocobos are allowed to board airships.

As you may have noticed, we had Moderator Applications open for the month of November. And from now on, Melodies of Life has two new moderators who will be helping the current mod team.
Indeed, Mutant and Odie are now List Mods! They will be helping keep the game up to date and by updating lists and processing applications. Furthermore, Valecia is now a Plot Mod, meaning she will help with plot things. Please, a round of applause and a warm welcome to our new moderators!
The search for the Moogle with the Black Mage hat continues! A lot of hints have been gathered already, and while the event is closed, characters who participated can still get clues. If you think knowing where the Moogle is hidden, post it in the Hint thread of the event post. However, you have a limited number of attempts at guessing and there are things that will cause him to flee if you approach him incorrectly, so beware! Upon guessing correctly, we will post a backdated log for characters to go and interrogate him. Otherwise, he will flee and disappear.
Also, you all have gathered enough money for the Gunner Job, congratulation! Characters who contributed will get the Job with a three months bonus, as will character who have participated in the event. Characters who both participated in the event and contributed with money will get a four months bonus. Characters who did neither can ask the Job to Jessie. It is also now available as a default Job for new characters.
Furthermore, due to the defeat of various bosses during the Night of the Fourteen Moogles event, King Moggle Mog was not revived. Last but not least, defeating Tifa and her Dark Eidolon during this event awarded a new Eidolon to the Heroes of Light: Shiva.

With Jessie's letter, a new Job has been unlocked this past month: Blue Mage. Characters can request the new Job from Jessie anytime, and newcomers may chose the Job as their default one. Please look here for more information regarding the Job.

 GUNNER Gunner is a new Job developed by the Heran Empire. They can stay away from their enemies and yet deal heavy damages. This Job is similar to Archer, but while Gunners are less agile than Archers, they can deal more damage and benefit from top notch eyesight and aiming skills. Gunners can equip all sort of firearms: handguns, machines guns or even shotguns. It is said rare bullets developed for this Job are capable of instantly killing anyone... Strengths: Gunners have no particular stat decreases and can attack from a safe position. Furthermore, this Job was built to work together with other Jobs. Skills from the Archers and Magitek Knight Job applies to Gunner if equipped, such as Magic Bullet granting magic bullets or Bandanna granted infinite ammo. Mages are able to cast their magic with guns using this Job and sword-users can take on a Gunblade even without the Magitek Knight Job. Weaknesses: While there is no stat decreases to a Gunner, there are no increases either aside from accuracy. Someone equipping only Gunner and no other Job may end up being limited, as this Job relies heavily on being associated with another Job to make the most of it. |

 SHIVA Shiva is an ice-elemental Eidolon, considered to be the Guardian of Trano Golsaucia. She is the first of many corrupted Eidolons the Heroes of Light had to face, mere months after first awakening in this world. After being defeated, the spell over the Eidolon broke and she became an ally for the Heroes of Light. Diamond Dust Characters summoning Shiva will have the goddess of ice appearing before them to literally freeze enemies where they stand with a powerful ice attack. This attack is certain to kill of most weak monsters and damage even the powerful ones. There is a 50% chance that any characters or enemies hit by Diamond Dust will be frozen for anywhere from two to ten minutes, rendering them unable to move. Additionally, Shiva will finish Diamond Dust by snapping her fingers, which has a 25% chance of instantly killing any frozen character. It means that there is 1/8 chance that Diamond Dust will kill enemies regardless of their power or current health. |

Characters who pitched in get the 3 month bonus. I've done this so, when/if I switch this to make this a job, I get that bonus, I get this. What I'd like cleared up is does this automatically add to the number of jobs a person has experience with, or only when/if they switch to it?

You can have five jobs together at once or is it just two jobs with the other three in reserve? I know that they should be able to stack the Jobs weaknesses and strengths, right? So if you got a relatively weak Job like Scholar, you can stack it with a weapon Job like Warrior?

How does ammunition work? Is it expendable/do characters have to reload etc? Or does the Job cover however many 'shots' your character might need?
