New Job | Magitek Resolution
Hello dear players, two important things in this announcement. Firstly, the Crystal in Jessie's letter will grant a new Job to all characters. It is a special Job that works differently from all others, so be careful if you chose to equip your character with it. Secondly, we are offering a resolution regarding the Magitek Event for those who want one. You can chose to handwave the end of the threads if your team didn't complete it yet and we will give you a summary of what happened depending on your characters' choices. If you'd rather not, we can continue backtagging into infinity.
1/ New Job
As you can see, Blue Mage is a very special Job in that it doesn't level up month after month. Instead, characters have to fight monsters and be hit by certain attacks to learn new skills. You can see how tough the monsters are and where to find them here.
There is no existing list of what monsters give what skills, as it is a brand new Job. Studying in the library however, characters may find enough information about monsters to get an idea as to what skills they are likely to obtain this way. We will not regulate the pace at which skills are learned, but please be realistic: it is unlikely for a character to learn all seven skills in a month two. One or two, maybe three skills a month are much more reasonable. Furthermore, some monsters such as Malboro will require experimented teams to be defeated, while others like Cactuars need to be reached with a ship: getting actual good skills isn't as easy at it looks. Oh and for hamsters: mods have to be notified if ever an attempt to take one down is made. Odds of success are incredibly low.
2/ Magitek Resolution
While a few teams are done or nearly with the Magitek Event, others are not. We offer you to handwave the ending of ongoing threads and give you a summary here about what happened if you'd rather move on from the event. The event has slowed down and it's been long enough that characters may need a resolution for this event. If not, we will keep backtagging the thread.
If you want to handwave and have a summary, please comment in the Magitek Thread for you and your group. Make sure teammates agree before asking for a resolution.
1/ New Job
![]() BLUE MAGE A new Job born from Jessie's researches. It is a blank Job with no skills and that lacks any stats boosts or decreases, much like the Freelancer Job. But this doesn't mean this Job is useless, quite at the contrary. Rather than progress on a monthly basis, new skills are learnt by fighting monsters. Characters who are hit by certain attacks can then use them again at their heart's content-- So long as they survive and finish off the monster who taught them said attack, of course. Strengths: This Job can be entirely customized. Characters equipping it can learn seven different skills (eight after a year), and if they know what they're doing the skills will be specifically what they need. They may not know how to get specific skills, but they can study to know what monsters are likely to give what skill. Weaknesses: To learn an attack, characters mustn't just be hit by said attack: they must survive it and defeat the monster who cast the attack. It may prove to be problematic with Malboros and Hamsters... It is also possible to learn skills by accident, and they cannot be forgotten. Learning Splash would be a shame. |

NEW JOB QUESTION
MAGITEK EVENT RESOLUTION
Group C Boss Battle: Jenni [Resolution]
For what it's worth, once Sephiroth manages to find Zelda he'll attempt to break the glass all around in order to find Kobato. After calling out 'get down' or something. Long swords are useful? :-D
no subject
At this point, Jenni would have relentlessly tried to kill Kobato with a copy of Zelda's sword. Kobato could have avoided her attacks for a short time, and Sephiroth and Zelda could have saved Kobato if they reached her in time. So in short, Kobato's survival depends on her ability to hold Jenni at bay and Sephiroth/Zelda being fast enough.
> Did Kobato survive or not? What follows depends on whether it's a yes or no.
no subject
I guess if they couldn't get there within five minutes then it would be a no.
no subject
Lets be Heroes then and save Kobato?
no subject
Attacking the fake Zelda at this point would have disrupted all the illusions and given the heroes a window of opportunity to attack Jenni. If they did attack her, she would have reformed the illusion before they may kill her. If they chose not to attack her, she would have attacked them with a telekinetic attack before reforming the illusion.
Phase 2 of the battle would have involved the same mirror maze, but now with all black mirrors. Kobato and Sephiroth would have been together and Zelda would have been with Jenni, albeit disguised as Sephiroth. Black Mirrors are unbreakable and only one out of ten work. Upon seeing their reflection in one of the working mirror, said reflection would have emerged from the mirror to attack Kobato and Sephiroth. So essentially, they would have had to fight themselves (albeit a much weaker self).
Meanwhile Zelda would have been attacked by the fake Sephiroth (Jenni). Much like Kobato, they would have had to reach Zelda before Jenni can kill her, taking into account this time Jenni uses Sephiroth's weapon to attack, mirrors cannot be broken and both Sephiroth & Kobato are slowed down by mirror illusions. However, with her knowledge of what Jenni did to Kobato earlier, Zelda may be able to escape her more easilly.
> Did Zelda survive or not?

Given the illusions/reflections of each other and the unbreakable nature of the mirrors, and (probably) having to defend Kobato it would be down to the mercy of the maze-illusion if they were able to get to Zelda at all.
no subject
Jenni wouldn't answer Zelda's question and would attack her, much like she did with Kobato. It all boils down to whether Zelda can hold on for seven minutes in a duel against Jenni (she will have at the very least to be wounded).

They may all sustain some level of injuries, though Sephiroth here will be the most targeted one. They did well enough than no one will die though.
Upon defeating Jenni (she'll be visibly wounded and exhausted), they'll find themselves back at the entrance of the Magitek Research Facility and she will comment than they're "Even more dangerous than Lady Kalki had told her" before vanishing. At this point the lockout will end and all mechas and illusions will disappear, making the facility a much more welcoming place.
They can go back to the control room to find Biggs, Wedge and Jessie. You can ask them question directly in this thread if you'd like to play out the conclusion, or ask your questions here and we'll summarize their answers.
no subject
He'll only go back to the control room if encouraged to or if (one of) the other two want to go back there - he's taken enough of a beating already thanks lol. I'm happy to thread something in the Conclusion thread for a bit if you'd like to guys?
Group A Boss Battle Resolution

Assuming they take it down once, do they:
> Fight it again once it self-repairs?
> Flee?
no subject
He will be stubborn about this decision, though, for the most part. Gaara doesn't have his Job Classes, and Luke doesn't want to risk anyone dying.

Though in the time it takes to defeat the robot for the first time, would he be able to make one sharp weapon in addition to the two shields?
no subject
Before being caught back by the machine though, they'll encounter Biggs. He'll be tired and wounded due to having faced a hoard of smaller robots, but he may still be of help. Will they:
> Ignore him
> Talk to him and be rude / douche / whatever
> Talk to him and be actually polite
no subject

no subject
By the time he's done saying that, the robot will have caught up on them and will attack them all once again. Biggs will help them fight it, and they can chose to:
> All fight it
> Leave Biggs fight it alone and run away
> Split up and have some help Biggs and some run away
> Anything else
no subject
If it's defeated he'll want to ask Biggs about the history of Magitek and the creation of those robots.
no subject
Luke does still have his shield. Gaara should still have the bag of items? Annnnd...Luke will stay and fight alongside Biggs. He will thank him for the information and the help, too.
