New Job | Magitek Resolution

Hello dear players, two important things in this announcement. Firstly, the Crystal in Jessie's letter will grant a new Job to all characters. It is a special Job that works differently from all others, so be careful if you chose to equip your character with it. Secondly, we are offering a resolution regarding the Magitek Event for those who want one. You can chose to handwave the end of the threads if your team didn't complete it yet and we will give you a summary of what happened depending on your characters' choices. If you'd rather not, we can continue backtagging into infinity.

1/ New Job

BLUE MAGE
A new Job born from Jessie's researches. It is a blank Job with no skills and that lacks any stats boosts or decreases, much like the Freelancer Job. But this doesn't mean this Job is useless, quite at the contrary. Rather than progress on a monthly basis, new skills are learnt by fighting monsters. Characters who are hit by certain attacks can then use them again at their heart's content-- So long as they survive and finish off the monster who taught them said attack, of course.

Strengths: This Job can be entirely customized. Characters equipping it can learn seven different skills (eight after a year), and if they know what they're doing the skills will be specifically what they need. They may not know how to get specific skills, but they can study to know what monsters are likely to give what skill.

Weaknesses: To learn an attack, characters mustn't just be hit by said attack: they must survive it and defeat the monster who cast the attack. It may prove to be problematic with Malboros and Hamsters... It is also possible to learn skills by accident, and they cannot be forgotten. Learning Splash would be a shame.

Geezard Splash Moves around and does nothing.
Bomb Self-Destruct Self-destructs and dies, but inflicts severe damages (all enemies).
Buer Off-Guard Halves the defense of an enemy.
Cactuar 1000 Needles Inflicts serious damages to an enemy.
Cockatrice Stone Touch Has a 50% chance of turning an enemy into stone.
Chimera Aqua Breath Casts a mid-water spell on all enemies.
Ettin Snake Entangle Weak attack, but 50% chance of paralyzing the enemy.
Gargoyle Lv. 4 Death Has a 25% chance of killing all enemies.
Goblin Goblin Punch Attack an enemy with a slightly above average attack.
Malboro Bad Breath Inflicts Poison, Confuse, Sleep, Silence, Frog, Small (all enemies).
Mandragora Slow Dance Halves the speed of an enemy.
Medusa Roulette Randomly kills an enemy or an ally.
Mimic Vanish Vanish from battle.
Ochu Ochu Dance Inflicts the paralysis and confuse ailments (all enemies)
Sahagin Mighty Guard Double the speed, magical & physical defenses of all allies.
Seeker Bat Bite Bites an enemy with a weak attack.
Skeleton Magic Hammer Drains the mental energy of an enemy.
Fire Elemental Fire Breath Casts a fire breath on an enemy.
Th. Elemental Trine Casts a thunder attack (all enemies).
Tonberry Karma Deals to the enemy the double of damages he inflicted you in total.
Touch Me Frog Song Turns the enemy into a frog. 50% chance to put them to sleep.
Zombie Zombie Bite Makes an enemy weak to healing magic and items.
Wyvern White Wind Heals minor wounds (all allies)
Hamster C'mon Hamsters! Summons an army of deadly and poisonous hamsters to trample and annihilate all enemies.

As you can see, Blue Mage is a very special Job in that it doesn't level up month after month. Instead, characters have to fight monsters and be hit by certain attacks to learn new skills. You can see how tough the monsters are and where to find them here.

There is no existing list of what monsters give what skills, as it is a brand new Job. Studying in the library however, characters may find enough information about monsters to get an idea as to what skills they are likely to obtain this way. We will not regulate the pace at which skills are learned, but please be realistic: it is unlikely for a character to learn all seven skills in a month two. One or two, maybe three skills a month are much more reasonable. Furthermore, some monsters such as Malboro will require experimented teams to be defeated, while others like Cactuars need to be reached with a ship: getting actual good skills isn't as easy at it looks. Oh and for hamsters: mods have to be notified if ever an attempt to take one down is made. Odds of success are incredibly low.

2/ Magitek Resolution
While a few teams are done or nearly with the Magitek Event, others are not. We offer you to handwave the ending of ongoing threads and give you a summary here about what happened if you'd rather move on from the event. The event has slowed down and it's been long enough that characters may need a resolution for this event. If not, we will keep backtagging the thread.

If you want to handwave and have a summary, please comment in the Magitek Thread for you and your group. Make sure teammates agree before asking for a resolution.

Group C Boss Battle: Jenni [Resolution]

Please can we work out a resolution for this one?

For what it's worth, once Sephiroth manages to find Zelda he'll attempt to break the glass all around in order to find Kobato. After calling out 'get down' or something. Long swords are useful? :-D

Considering it's Kobato we're talking about here and given she can trip over at any given point... Her survival rate would not be that high. So it would depend on really how quickly the others could get there. If not that fast then unlikely, if pretty quickly then there would be a chance.

I guess if they couldn't get there within five minutes then it would be a no.

Then I guess it depends on the distance between them/Kobato when the mirrors are all broken between them. Sephiroth will Dragoon-leap the gap if it's workable in order to get there quicker.

Lets be Heroes then and save Kobato?

Zelda wouldn't let her guard down and knowing Sephiroth as she does she knows he wouldn't be insulted by that. She would try to ask him something to see if it was him, concerning their first meeting or something that she knows about him. She would be cautious but not to an insulting degree.
shinrasfinest: (Concern)

[personal profile] shinrasfinest 2014-11-10 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth would have attacked Jenni given the window, knowing Zelda is capable of healing him does wonders for an already large confidence. She's clearly identified herself as an enemy.

Given the illusions/reflections of each other and the unbreakable nature of the mirrors, and (probably) having to defend Kobato it would be down to the mercy of the maze-illusion if they were able to get to Zelda at all.

She can heal herself and probably last 5-7 minutes but when they finally show up she will be very hurt.

Ok so I RNG'd 1~10 and came out with a 7 - to gauge some level of injury Sephiroth will have come out with due to the sustained attacks. Mostly deep bruising, semi-deep cuts and more than a few broken light armor plates along with a few slugs from that gunblade that will need to be pulled out to promote healing. All in all, a few bleeders but nothing lethal at all especially if Zelda & Kobato will be healing after the fight is over.

He'll only go back to the control room if encouraged to or if (one of) the other two want to go back there - he's taken enough of a beating already thanks lol. I'm happy to thread something in the Conclusion thread for a bit if you'd like to guys?

Group A Boss Battle Resolution

[personal profile] umslay 2014-11-11 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
So Ales will first focus on building shields out of the material in the Artifact room. That might take a round or two, but then he'd give them immediately first to anyone not in the robot's clutches.

Luke would...suggest attempting to flee the second it appeared to be coming back. Whether, or not, they DO flee depends on the majority party's decision.

He will be stubborn about this decision, though, for the most part. Gaara doesn't have his Job Classes, and Luke doesn't want to risk anyone dying.

Gaara will back Luke up, as much as he hates retreating from battle. Better to live and fight another day.

You guys have the shields Ales built, right? Because he'll run as well unless everyone forgot to take the things he put effort to into building.

Though in the time it takes to defeat the robot for the first time, would he be able to make one sharp weapon in addition to the two shields?

Ales would take the polite route, being glad to see someone they know alive and apparently having the ability to fight against the robots. Also he'd panic a little and say that a giant robot was after them and it's invincible.

Saori will also take the polite route and give him her last potion to get his health back up. She maybe tempted to hold back the robot by herself but she won't do something that reckless just yet. If push comes to shove though, she'll be the main physical damage giver.

If no one is running away, Ales will remain with Biggs since wow! Engineers and a guy who might know the secret to fighting this thing! He'll remain in the back and build something sharp enough to fight the robot.

If it's defeated he'll want to ask Biggs about the history of Magitek and the creation of those robots.

(Okay I KNOW I clicked for notif alerts...)

Luke does still have his shield. Gaara should still have the bag of items? Annnnd...Luke will stay and fight alongside Biggs. He will thank him for the information and the help, too.
