MAY INFORMATION POST
Hello everyone, it's time for the monthly information post once again! To new players, we hope you will enjoy playing here and to veteran players, we hope you are still enjoying the game. If you are new, feel free to introduce yourself in the OOC community, a log will be posted on the fifth of May for new characters. Like usual, new characters will be housed with characters already in-game.
This post details the small events that will punctuate this month and introduce a new feature to the game. Should you have any questions regarding this month's happenings, please feel free to post them here.
The City That Never Sleeps || May 05th
In the morning of May 05th, a brand new batch of Heroes of Light will appear in the vicinity of the Crystal... of Wind! Indeed, rather than appearing in Aqures Ixen by the Crystal of Fire like the previous batch of Heroes, these ones shall appear by the Crystal of Wind in Trano Golsaucia. On the "bright" side Heroes start appearing once again, but whatever Kalki did to block the Crystal of Fire in Aqures Ixen seems to still be in effect.
Besides the change in location, these new Heroes will go through pretty much the same ordeals as their predecessors. After having seen their reality shatter and collapse around them, these Heroes find themselves in a brand new world... And now wielding mysterious new powers granted to them by the Crystal they hold. They will be a little late, but Moogles will be there to welcome them and tell them everything they need to know. The Heroes will be granted their Mognet rights, a house in Aqures Ixen and told everything (or nearly) they need to know about their 'destiny'.
A log will be posted for new characters to post their introductions and veterans to welcome them. Shoopuf Airline Airships will be made available exceptionally for characters to move back and forth between Aqures Ixen and Trano Golsaucia from May 05th to May 08th, regardless of the regular schedule.
Many Meetings || May 15th
As requested by many Heroes, there will be a meeting between the NPCs and the Heroes of Light in the Observatory. Wedge, Biggs, Jessie, Artemicion and Cid will all be present and will answer all questions the characters may have. They will also explain what little they know about the situation in Imperial Territories.
The situation with the Empire and the Calamity will all be explained then. Furthermore, Cid will hand out the positions and details for the repairs regarding the Enterprise.
In Your Worst Memory || May 27th
On May 27th, the Heroes of Light will be visited by a new NPC that will take them to a world made from their memories. There, they will relive as spectators one of their most painful of regretful memories. In certain cases where such memories do not exist or are not impactful enough, it may not be a memory, but a scene from the characters' future. However, characters will not be alone to relive said memories, as other Heroes of Light will be at their side to help them go through it-- Or wonder what strange world they come from.
An OOC post will be posted a week before the event goes online. Upon signing-up to relive a memory, you will have the responsibility to handle the scene for all the characters witnessing the memory. It implies setting up the scene, playing the appropriate NPCs present in the memory and how events evolve. Each memory will have a twist to it, which the moderators will hand out to the player in charge of the memory. At the end of the event, the new NPC will return for a shared scene with everyone.
The quest to capture every monsters has not been completed yet. Alas, the Monster Arena cannot fully re-open until this quest is fulfilled. The old man in charge and his moogle start to wonder if these people are really Heroes of Light. Heroes of "do nothing all day long" sounds far more appropriate, and they will voice their opinion loudly to anyone passing by.
Capture Every Monster!
One of each existing monster has to be captured, with the exception of Hamsters as defeating them is very hard right now. You do not have to log your character capturing weak monsters, but it is recommended logging it when going against the powerful ones (those with a lot of stars). Just reply here, but please be reasonable (it is doubtful a character could take on a Malboro alone or capture tons of monsters at once).
Reward: 7 000 Gil per captured monster. 2 000 for duplicates.
Reward: Job "Dancer" once one of every monster has been captured.
• May 01st
The strike will end and Mognet will go back to normal.
• May 02nd - May 16th
Mognet will function normally.
• May 17th
A bug in Mognet Central & the Mognet Office of Aqures Ixen will make it so that every personal mail sent on that day will accidentally be distributed to all the Heroes of Light and NPCs. The Staff of Mognet would like to apologize about that accident in advance.
• May 18th – May 31st
Mognet will function normally.
• May 02nd - May 04th (Esdham)
The Mognet Office of Esdham will go into strike. Any letters sent from or to the Region of Esdham will not pass until the end of the strike.
• May 19th - May 23rd (Aerilon)
The Mognet Office of Aerilon will go into strike. Any letters sent from or to the Region of Aerilon will not pass until the end of the strike.
All Heroes of Light have a permit allowing them to board Airships from Shoopuf Airline© for free. Shoopuf Airline is a civilian company handled by Hypello. At this point in time, the following cities can be reached thanks to Shoopuf Airline: Balicea, the County of Flence and Trano Golsaucia. To reach Aerilon, one has to rent a ship at Balicea and access the city by sea. A special airship is dedicated to going from Esdham to Aqures Ixen. All Imperial Territories are off-limits.
As Airships stop by four cities, it takes them approximately 12 hours to go from their departure point to their arrival point. Chocobos are allowed to board airships.

As you may have noticed, we had Moderator Applications open for the month of April. And from now on, Melodies of Life has new moderators who will be helping the current mod team.
Ami and Tarei are now App Mods! They will be helping processing applications and sometimes even update lists. Kini is a Helper Mod, meaning she will take on the same tasks as App Mods but also help during events. Furthermore, Mutant is now Helper Mod as well. Lisa is a Scribe, a special position meaning she will write the game's summary and keep it up to date! Please, a round of applause and a warm welcome to our new moderators!
There are a few new things introduced this month! Namely, a new promotion system for many occupations, a new Guild system for organized groups and last but not least, a brand new Eidolon!
• New Promotion System
There is a new promotion system in place as of today for many occupations. ICly, it comes as a joint decision by Aqures Ixen and Esdham as far as law Enforcement and Military are concerned. There are requirements for getting promotions: time, participating in events and posts proving you do actually play with your character's occupation. The requirements are cumulative (you need six events total for example, not six events since the last promotion).
The Cleaner, Doctor, Shop & Library Employee, Blitzball, and Waiter employments all have a few promotions now. You can check them all here! Likewise, if you want to request a promotion, please start a new thread in the employment page with the appropriate form. Changes are retroactive, meaning if you have the requirements now, you can request the promotion. Law Enforcement and Military are the two employments most affected by this, and the changes are as follow:
Law Enforcement
Upon reaching the final rank, they'll have authority in Trano Golsaucia, Balicea, Esdham and Flence as well. The higher they are in rank, the more NPCs they have under their command in their police force.
Military
Characters getting promotions for this employment will have to specialize in regular military or air military upon reaching the rank of Major. Upon reaching the rank of Colonel, this will change a lot. Army Colonel will have at their disposals NPC soldiers, a hundred which they can use. Air Colonel have a lot less, but they will be offered command of a military Airship.
• New Guild System
Many players have expressed interest in forming some sort of groups or organizations by the past, and rather than accept them on a case by case basis, we've set up a full fledged Guild System! This system is to be used only by characters who want to create groups following a certain ideology, who have a certain purpose or need a headquarter. Please follow the link for more details!

• New Eidolon
Last month, Kobato was given a quest by Jessie when asking for a new Job. This quest involved checking up on Ramuh in the Aqurean Forest. Upon finding him, Kobato and her team found Dark Ramuh and defeated him, therefore getting Ramuh as a new Eidolon available to summoners:

• Observatory
As we said in January, the Observatory now belongs to all of the Heroes of Light and will now be categorized as a home for all Heroes of Lightin the new guild system. A map of the observatory has been drawn for your convenience by Ami, and all the contents found within the journal is available to all the Heroes of Light, which may help some of the newer Heroes to catch-up with the plot!
• Doppelgangers
Characters now know what Doppelgangers are-- The reincarnated Heroes of Light from previous cycles. As such, the Doppelgangers feature has been expanded. It is possible for characters to find a doppelganger from their homeworlds every two months. The specifics can be found here.
• New Jobs
There are now new Advanced Jobs and a brand new Job: Gambler! You can check them all here.
• Moogle with the Black Mage Hat
The Moogle with the Black Mage hat is still in Aqures Ixen, but not for long. He will be moved to a prison in Esdham on the 12th of May.

• New Eidolon
Last month, Kobato was given a quest by Jessie when asking for a new Job. This quest involved checking up on Ramuh in the Aqurean Forest. Upon finding him, Kobato and her team found Dark Ramuh and defeated him, therefore getting Ramuh as a new Eidolon available to summoners:
 RAMUH Ramuh is an thunder-elemental Eidolon, considered to be the Guardian of the Aqurean Forest. He is one of the many corrupted Eidolons the Heroes of Light had to face, following a request from Jessie. After being defeated, the spell over the Eidolon broke and he became an ally of the Heroes of Light. Ramuh is one of the rare Eidolons to look human, even if he is many times the size of a regular person when delivering his attack. Judgement Bolt Characters summoning Ramuh will have the avatar of lightning appearing above them with his staff in hand, using it to call down three to seven powerful bolts of lightning upon his enemies. This attack is certain to kill most of the weak monsters, damage even the powerful ones and sometimes kills them if seven bolts are cast on them. There is a 50% chance that any characters or enemies hit by Judgement Bolt will be paralyzed, rendering them unable to move. Paralysis is a status ailment, therefore the only way for the character to be freed from it is for an ally to use esuna or a remedy. Monsters will automatically snap out of paralysis after a moment. |

Chiaki's interested in that computer, and besides her money from capturing monsters, I'm sure she's won some prize money competing in Triple Triad tournaments, but I don't have a good sense of how much is fair to assume she has.
