Event: Blitzball World Cup

From today till the 29th, it's the Blitzball World Cup in Aqures Ixen! Every two years, there are two events with the power to get the entire population of Crystallis up in arms, supporting their favorite people! One of them is the Triple Triad World Competition, but this year it is the other one: the Blitzball World Cup! Blitzball Teams from all over the world are going to compete in order to become world champion and take back home with them the prized Crystal Cup!
You don't like Blitzball? Well that's sad, but you're probably going to have to bear with supporters loudly cheering for their teams, countless people annoyingly blowing vuvuzelas or some people running around shirtless or cosplaying as their favorite Blitzball players. And even so, there may be a few side activities you may enjoy in the lot. Aqures Ixen is going to be far busier than usual for the next weeks, what with people from all over the world supporting their favorite teams.

There are eight teams competing in the Blitzball World Cup. Some of them are better than others and more likely to win. The number in RED next to the name of the team indicates how strong the team is. The higher the number, the most likely they are to win. However, when it comes to betting, placing your money on the most competent team is a safe but overall poor choice. Indeed, the number in GREEN next to the name of the team is the multiplier. The higher the number, the more money you will win if you bet on this team and they happen to win the World Cup.
Now, the numbers can be affected by YOU! You can vote for the team you'd like to see win and it'll count +1 for the team of your choice. So for example:
Balicea Fishes (+12) VS Esdham Beasts (-05).
Logically, the Balicea Fishes should win this match very easily. But if 02 players vote for the Balicea Fishes and 23 players vote for the Esdham Beasts…
Balicea Fishes (+14) VS Esdham Beasts (+18)
Esdham Beasts Win! Your votes are what will determine what team may win! However, all votes will be hidden until we give away the results, so you won't be able to know what everyone else has voted for. Three votes will be held: one for the Quarter-Finals, one for the Semi-Finals and one for the Finals! To vote for the Quarter-Finals: go over here!

Betting Gains
1st Place: x10
2nd Place: x2
3rd Place: x0.75
4th or Worse: x0

There are various side activities aside from Blitzball itself in which the characters can take part? Most of them are relatively harmless, but some may be more dangerous...
• Food & Drink Stands
People love eating a bit while cheering for their favorite team, and there will be plenty of food stands all around, with very reasonable prices. Said stands also sell beers and all sort of alcohol drinks… Supporters tend to love these. Drink with moderation though, getting drunk is never a good thing. Probably.
• Souvenir Stores
Merchants know that when people are mindlessly cheering on their teams, they're twice more likely to buy things they don't need. Thus the city will be filled with souvenir stores for the duration of the World Cup! If you feel like you have too much money and would like a shirt with the face of your favorite Hypello, that may be good for you.
• Halftime Shows
Between the two halves of a Blitzball Match, there are small shows for people to enjoy. Sometimes they involve singers or dancers, with very advanced choreography. The old coot from the Monster Arena will be there as well and will display some of his monsters and have them do tricks to amuse the public.
• Artistic Matches
Every day when there is not an official match in the Blitzball Stadium, a very special team will play a game of Blitzball. They don't play following the normal rules, and they are actually making figures, something considered a form of art by some people. It is much more relaxing and less stressful to watch than official matches.
• Vuvuzela
You don't know what a Vuvuzela is? You will. It's very easy to get one for free in the city during the event, and it is allowed to use it and be as annoying as you'd like. Profit while you can. For those on the receiving end however… Prepare for headaches, very serious and persisting ones.
• Player Meetings
Blitzball Players are reputed to be very kind and will regularly meet with their fans to sign autographs and the likes. Would you like to meet the Legendary Hypello from the Balicea Fishes or the Tarutaru who is said to have single-handedly reformed the Golsaucia Petals? Then this will be your chance!
• After-Match Activities
Once matches are over, those who have won generally party for a long time, drink a lot and spread around their joy and happiness. The losing side is sometimes prone to be enraged by that and will try to ruin said parties by being as annoying as is possible, which may imply putting some things on fire or punching people they don't like. But then again, some supporters are reasonable people.
• Underground Fight Clubs
Those who are reasonable but think the match needs to be replayed tend to gather in improvised fight clubs and fight. It may be a mean to make a quick buck… But this may also be a mean to get yourself killed if things go too far.
• Law Enforcement Offices
Those partaking in the After-Match Activities and Underground Fight Clubs, or those drinking too many beers, may also have the chance to visit the Law Enforcement Offices of Aqures Ixen! It is the only place in the entire city where you can be housed and fed for free! Meet the nice and sometimes temperamental people working there, meet some of the most famous criminals and while your room is really very small and uncomfortable, at least remember you don't have to pay! You'll like this place so much; odds are you won't leave for the next seven days. If you scream at the people working there and insult them, you may even get a full month!

• Double Exp
Anyone voting in this event will have double experience for the month with all of their characters. Practically speaking, this means their equipped Jobs will progress of two months instead of one!
