FEBRUARY INFORMATION POST
Hello everyone, it's time for the monthly information post once again! To new players, we hope you enjoy playing here and to veteran players, we hope you are still enjoying the game. This post details the small events that will punctuate this month.
There are a lot of interesting player plots happening this month and participating to any of them will give your character the Double Exp bonus. Should you have any questions regarding this month's happenings, please feel free to post them here.
The Eternal Cycle || February 01st
The battle of the Heroes of Light against the Calamity from the Skies thousands of years ago gave birth to many legends. Those who were there last year might remember Valentione's story. This Hero of Light fell in love with one of the Ancients and vowed to protect him and his world. And yet... Before long, she realized an inescapable truth: the Calamity couldn't be defeated and eventually, she would devour all of Crystallis, and the one she loved along with it.
To protect him, she threw herself at the Calamity. In doing so, she hoped the Calamity would devour her world instead of Crystallis, so that the one she loved would survive. A world against another may sound like a senseless sacrifice, but more than that she hoped the Calamity would leave the worlds of every other Hero of Light alone. Her sacrifice was something the Ancient she loved could not bear. His will to live faded and shortly thereafter, he died.
The sacrifice had been in vain.
But the legend doesn't end here, for the feelings that drove Valentione to give her life was something the Calamity could not withstand. The Calamity spit back Valentione's soul into the void between worlds and left her there to decay. And yet... The legend says the bond she shared with her love allowed her spirit to return to Crystallis. No longer a Hero of Light, she was reborn as a native of Crystallis subconsciously looking for the one she had once loved, but she could not find him. It is said she is condemned to reincarnate again and again, forever in a never ending cycle of sorrow.
Is any of this true? No one who's alive knows... Historians tend to think this may be nothing more than a fairy tale vaguely based on a true story. Even then, it is custom for lovers to show their affection and promise to find each other even after death on the 14th of February, the day when the two lovers died according to the legend.
The World of Tomorrow || February 13th
Someone named Prajapati has contacted the Heroes of Light on the 23rd of January, asking to meet them near the Chocobo Farm on the 13th. This letter seems to be an answer to the peace attempt made by some Heroes back in December and they claim to be thinking to the good of the people, so it might be worth a shot? A log will be posted for those going to the meeting point—There will be one NPC thread and no sign-up for this.
Mechanical Love || February 14th
The money from Aqures Ixen’s tax payers has finally been used for a good reason. Moogles working in Palitutu’s Laboratory have come up with a revolutionary program: the Valentine Love Matchmaker™! With a simple click, the Valentine Love Matchmaker™ can run the files of any Heroes of Light against that of all Heroes of Light currently in Crystallis. The percentages resulting from this determinate who are the best matches for the character. And no worries if you’re afraid to miss this: the Moogles will send a letter to all Heroes of Light with the Top 3 best and worse matches for every characters! And since they’re afraid you’ll miss it, they’ll also plaster these results all over the Observatory and all Heroes of Light-run businesses.
If for some reason your character would like to avoid being tested by the Valentine Love Matchmaker™, well too bad! OOCly, you can of course have it so your characters’ files are incompatible with the Valentine Love Matchmaker™ if you’d like to avoid this. This event is to be mostly player-run and there will be no moderator logs for this: you can pick who the best and worst matches for your characters are. If you don’t know or don’t feel like picking up, then sign-up below and we will randomize the Top 3 Best and Worse matches for you by the 10th of February.
Of course, as amazing as the Valentine Love Matchmaker™ is, it’s not perfect. The program is very glitchy so the results may be weird: don’t panic if your OTP shows up as the worst match!
Another Side, Another Story || February 22nd - 29th
On the 22nd of February, the Heroes of Light will encounter… Another group of Heroes of Light. But unlike those who arrived in Aqures Ixen, those Heroes were awakened by Kalki for a very specific purpose, before the imperial attack back in July. From July 2015 to February 2016, they went through their own adventures and events, parallel to what the Heroes of Light from Aqures Ixen went through.
Whether you are a player who is already playing in Melodies of Life or someone who isn’t playing in the game—You will be able to play characters from this new batch of Heroes of Light for the duration of the event. There will be a simple and basic mini-app to fill in with the strict minimum required to play the event, much like a regular sign-up form. This way, you will be able to play your character in Melodies of Life from February 22nd to February 29th. This means you can temporarily play castmates for your friends in the game, or you can even ask friends who aren’t in the game to play someone you’d like to see in Melodies of Life for the time of the event!
If you then want to keep playing characters from this event, you will be able to formally send an application during the March app round. They will retain memories from everything that happened ever since they awoke back in July and will join up with the regular Heroes of Light. All the other characters will meet with a terrible fate by the end of the event. This is a great occasion to send in villains, or to have characters jump in the game without having to be introduced to the world of Crystallis. More information as well as a sign-up form will be posted in February.
Chocobo Enthusiasts Road Trip || February 01st - 06th
Concerned about the lingering illness that Zack has been suffering from, Cloud is following up on the rumors he's heard about the Chocobo Forest far to the south. He isn't sure what he'll find there exactly, but if it can help his bird then he wants to check it out. This quest may start unlocking the secrets toward getting a Gold Chocobo that can fly.

The Mysidian Tower || February 08th - 12th
Jade is organizing an expedition to the Mysidian Tower on the Continent of Ruin. The goal is to explore the entire tower before it gets swallowed by the Calamity... but advancing through 101 floors of monsters, puzzles, and other fun obstacles may not be an easy task. Who knows what secrets await at the top?
There is a lot to do, but succeeding in piercing the tower's secrets might be worth the trouble. Successfully completing this quest may change some things gameplay-wise. Posts will be posted about it later in the month.
UFO Stakeout || February 18th - 21st
Recent sightings of UFOs have prompted a number of Heroes of Light to investigate into these serial farm animal kidnappers. Farmers and chocobo breeders are going to accept temporary guards for their animals, but what they want most is for these mysterious kidnappers to be caught. Duster is one who wants to organize a stakeout. He'll be sending a letter by the start of next month and they will spend the beginning of the month asking around to advanced the investigation, while the stakeout will happen around the 18th-21st.

Super Size Me! || All Month
Reports of particularly dangerous creatures will begin to crop up on the quest board. These strange monsters will be different from their bestiary counterparts, in that they will be much bigger, and/or stronger, and/or possess souped-up capabilities that they probably shouldn't. Details of the monsters and the locations where they were spotted will appear one by one on the quest board, so keep an eye peeled for the Sinister Seven, appearing in the following order:
Aqures Ixen - Giant Bomb
Flence - Colossal Cockatrice
Trano Golsaucia - El Grande Ocho
Roalie - Skullcrushing Skeleton
Cactuar Island - Mega Cactuar
Aqures Tosf - Super Tonberry
Mysidia - The Indominus Rex
Characters who go off to hunt these monsters will need to post a log of them doing so, and are free to write the monsters themselves, or to have Ellie's player NPC them. Send a PM tovonspielburg if you would prefer to do the log yourself, and OOC details will be sent regarding what can be found in the area, and where. If there's anything else your character is going to do regarding this sudden outbreak of mega monsters, contact Ellie's player to plot things out or to receive results.

The quest of the Monster Arena isn't part of any event. There is an indefinite amount of time to complete it, but there will be no new quests until its completion. This quest has to be logged and at least three characters must participate into it.
Capture A Velociraptor
The old man in charge of the Monster Arena has heard there are plenty unique species of monsters on the new continent. He's also heard they're very powerful, so he'll only ask one monster at a time. This time, he wants a Raptor. He needs one, so if they attack in group, the characters should keep at least one alive. There is a bonus of 5 000 Gil for any Raptor brought back alive, but it's also tougher.
Reward: 10 000 Gil + Useless(?) key fragment the old man once found. It looks very ancient.

All letters will be pink and envelopes will be decorated with hearts.

Mognet will be closed due to the vote for the new director's election.
The Mognet election happens on the 29th of February, and you have all month to participate in! Below are the candidates, and (+ 0) is how many voices they start with. As it is, there are two ways for you to participate: your character’s Moogle can add +1 to the candidate they vote for, and your character can add +2 to the character they chose. However, only Moogles have the right to vote: which means that if your character does vote, they’ll have to cheat. Keep in mind that if your character does cheat, the authorities of Aqures Ixen might get wind of it… The election will affect the future of Mognet, as depending on who the new Director is, strikes and glitches may happen more or less often, and favors may be granted or not to the Heroes of Light.
Kupes (+ 8)
The Moogle who works with Wedge. He’s serious and well known among the Moogles of Aqures Ixen. He’s the grand favorite for this election, as he holds the Moogles’ interests at heart and made a lot of promises, should he be elected. His election would see a drop in the rate of Mognet Strikes, but the service would be afflicted with various bugs and glitches more often.
Mogapalm (+ 2)
A Moogle originating from Hera. Very little is known about him, besides that he seems to be very serious and holds at heart the interests of the people, regardless of their species or origins. Certain characters may recognize him as the Moogle who’s been working with Kurma. As he thinks to Crystallis before the Moogles, his elections would mean a rise in the rate of Mognet Strikes, but a faster and more efficient service all around.
Merlose (+ 5)
A Moogle who’s been working with the Heroes of Light until her assigned Hero fell into Crystal Stasis. Having worked with the Heroes of Light for so long, it seems she would heavily collaborate with them should she be elected. As Melrose would try to do her best to keep Mognet in good working state while fighting for Moogles’ rights, her election would lead to a status quo.
Mograma (+ 0)
The Moogle with the Black Mage Hat. He is an Avatar of the Calamity who once worked with Kalki in an attempt to revive King Moggle Mog XIV. He’s been captured by the Heroes of Light who then saved him from the death row. He claims he will do everything the Heroes of Light want if he gets elected, but can he be trusted?
All Heroes of Light have a permit allowing them to board Airships from Shoopuf Airline© for free. Shoopuf Airline is a civilian company handled by Hypello. At this point in time, the following cities can be reached thanks to Shoopuf Airline: Balicea, the County of Flence and Trano Golsaucia. To reach Aerilon, one has to rent a ship at Balicea and access the city by sea. A special airship is dedicated to going from Esdham to Aqures Ixen. All Imperial Territories are off-limits.
As Airships stop by four cities, it takes them approximately 12 hours to go from their departure point to their arrival point. Chocobos are allowed to board airships.
