Player Plot: the Mysidian Tower
This is the info and plotting post for the Mysidian Tower player plot! Jade has sent a letter on Mognet looking for people who might want to help him explore the tower before it's swallowed by the Calamity. Whether you want to reply to the Mognet post or handwave it doesn't matter – the actual sign-ups are happening OOCly here.
The plot will take place ICly from the 8th to the 12th. This means the Heroes will have four days to climb the tower. Jade will have picked up everyone on the Enterprise, so traveling to the tower won't be an issue.
Information on the tower and how this is going to work under the cut!
The Tower
The Mysidian Tower has 101 floors. Of these floors, 27 have been explored by people of Mysidia and Downapolis, so we don't have to start all the way from the ground floor. It's still a long climb and you can only carry so many rations with you, which brings me to the good news: elevators.
There are elevators spread throughout key sections of the tower. Currently, the elevator can only reach up to floor 20. In order to reach higher floors, characters will have to find and restore power to disabled elevators as they make their way up. This will allow them to travel between the ground and higher floors without having to waste time backtracking. EDIT TO ADD: Note that reactivating power for the elevators also turns on the lights for those floors! Until then, the Heroes will have to rely on torches, magic, and whatever light comes through windows.
As for what is inside the tower? I wouldn't want to spoil too much, but while there are some enemies, this plot focuses mainly on exploration. There are clues alluding to the origin and function of the tower, making Scholars with the translation skill invaluable. And, as the February info post said, completing this quest will have an effect on the entire game.
So how is this going to work?
For the sake of keeping everyone informed, I'll give a brief rundown of how the plot is going to be structured here.
Ground floor – Campsite
This is where things start, and thanks to the elevators, characters can go back down to rest up at any point throughout the four days. This thread can be used for mingling and will not be modded.
Friendly Monster
A few people have expressed interest in finding a friendly monster this month, so here's an opportunity for some bonus exp. You don't have to sign up for this, but you can leave a comment below so I'll know to wait for you when I play the monster.
Floors 30-99
Now, unless this plot turns out less popular than I expected, trying to keep a single thread going through the whole tower with a large group wouldn't be very realistic. This is especially true since I'd like everyone to have time to keep up regardless of RL responsibilities, so skipping people's turns wouldn't be fun either.
To keep things more manageable and backtag friendly, the tower will be split into threads of 10 floors (30-39, 40-49, 50-59, etc.). Each of these sets of floors will have different things waiting. There might be Ancient texts hidden behind traps, monsters preying on careless intruders, signs of old inhabitants who lived in the tower long ago… The threads will have a brief description to start with, so you can pick ones that you're interested in playing out. It's not mandatory to join every thread if you're too busy.
Need an IC reason for your character to not be in all the threads? Not a problem! Maybe they took an elevator down to the camp to rest up. Maybe they stayed on the previous floor to make sure nothing was missed. Maybe this floor is big enough for people to have split into smaller groups. In the same vein, if you missed the beginning of a thread, just jump in at any time! Your character could have been doing any of the aforementioned things and have just now caught up. All of these threads are open, so no one has to be left out.
Naturally, I'll be modding these threads. A specific tagging order isn't necessary – I'll wait for everyone in a particular group to tag in before I reply. This way people won't have to sit around waiting for one person because of clashing schedules and time zones.
Floors 100-101
A thread for the final two floors will go up a bit later so that everyone has time to play with the lower floors first. I won't spoil what's up there, but I highly recommend everyone who signs up for the plot join this thread. This is where things really start to pay off.
Below are the threads for questions and sign-ups! Feel free to use this post for plotting if you like.

He'll probably swap Paladin out for that max Scholar he has too (will therefore be Tactician); unless it turns out we have an abundance of Scholars and he'll rock his initial build of WAR/DRG.
No SOLDIER yet, sorryno subject

He is currently maxed Ninja and I think by the time they go, he'll be level 2 Beastmaster. Thanks to Jade & Bartz's help earlier in Mysidia, he'll be able to bring a dragon as an asset.

She's currently maxed her Ninja skill (Yay for walking on ceilings...) And will also have Time Mage equipped. I have to work on that one's levels, but she should be at least level 6--since she likes that one and has it equipped a lot. LOL
