Event: Crystallis de Chocobo

On the morning of the 15th, characters will receive a letter from Biggs. While the letter in itself isn't very informative, Moogles will tell them how important Chocobos are. After all, airships stop only by cities, how are they supposed to get anywhere without Chocobos? The Moogles will also tell them the Chocobo Farm is not very far-- At most, it'll take them one hour on foot to get there. The event is optional; characters do not have to go, but their Moogles will (hopefully) stress how important it is. Then, they will meet the old man in charge of the farm and the Moogle who lives with him. The two of them will tell the characters everything they need to know about Chocobos.
An open post will be posted tomorrow for characters to get their own Chocobo. Should you have any questions regarding this event, please feel free to post them in this thread. You may also use this post for plotting, should you have need of it.

Tragedy! The first thing the Heroes of Light will be told is that there are no longer any Chocobos available for them. No panic, there is another way to get Chocobos: find and capture wild ones. This may sound complicated, but it's actually fairly easy (or so says the old man). Besides, they are the Heroes of Light, so this should be easy for them, right?
How to Capture a Chocobo
All characters participating in this event will be given a purple Crystal called a 'Chocobo Lure'. The Old Man will explain that when activated, the Crystal emits a sound wave normal people cannot perceive, but that Wild Chocobos do hear. Moogles can activate and deactivate the Lure at will. So long as they are in a zone inhabited by Chocobos such as the area around the Chocobo Farm or a Forest, the Lure will draw Wild Chocobos to the character. Then, what happens depends on what type of Chocobos are attracted by the lure. The Old Man will explain there are three possibilities:
Friendly Chocobo
Sometimes, a Chocobo may just see a character and instantly realize they are meant to be together. If this happens, the Chocobo will try to drag the character toward a spot where a treasure is buried. If the Chocobo and character unearth the treasure together, from this point on the Chocobo will remain loyal to the character.
Unfriendly Chocobo
Sometimes, Chocobos just aren't that friendly and will run away as soon as they realize the characters intend on capturing them. With such a Chocobo, characters will have to partake in a Rodeo of sort. They will have to manage getting on the Chocobo's back and stay there as long as possible. Which is easier said than done, as the Chocobo will run wildly and try to get the character off its back. Needless to say, this may last anywhere from five minutes to one hour.
Once the Chocobo is exhausted, it will become loyal to the character. Yet, the Moogle living with the old man will advise characters to keep an eye on their back still, should they capture such a Chocobo. Probably just paranoia that comes with old age.
Enemy Chocobo
And sometimes, Chocobos will appear before you flanked with monsters. Not what you expected, but these kind of Chocobos will obey only to those who manage to defeat the monsters surrounding them. However, never ever try to attack these Chocobos, attack only the monsters surrounding the Chocobo. Not only attacking such a Chocobo is useless and will cause it to flee, but it may have very hazardous effects on your health.
Different Types of Chocobos
Chocobos come with all kind of personalities, as exemplified in the above action. But they also come in different sizes and colors. By far, Yellow Chocobos are the most common, but if you're lucky enough you may happen to find Chocobos with different color schemes in the region of Aqures Ixen. The colors are as follow:
Blue (light blue and blue marine), Purple, Red, Green and White.
Results of Treasures Hunting
You can hunt for treasures with your Chocobo. This is mandatory to capture one of the friendly Chocobos, but then you can do it with any kind of Chocobos. At the Chocobo Farm, you can find the following treasures:
- Potion
- Ether
- Used Chocobo Plush
- Empty Bottle
- Gils (from 10 to 5000)
- Elixir (rare)
- Old manuscript of "I Want To Be Your Moogle" (very rare)
- Yellow Crystal (extremely rare)

In the midst of all the hunting and capturing, a Chocobo Eater will take his chance and try to eat what little Chocobos are kept at the farm-- And maybe even the Chocobos the Heroes just captured, should they be incredibly unlucky. The Old Man will beg them to do something about the monster. The beast often comes to feast on Chocobos and is the reason as to why there weren't enough Chocobos left for the Heroes of Light.
Characters willing to help will have to face the Chocobo Eater in battle. The Boss will be mod-controlled and a special reward will be given to the heroes of light, should they manage to defeat the beast.

• Double Exp
Anyone participating in this event will have double experience for the month. Practically speaking, this means their equipped Jobs will progress of two months instead of one!
• Chocobo(s)
Characters will be allowed to keep the Chocobos they captured. Additionally, they will be able to name their Chocobos and use them to travel. Chocobos can board Airships as well. They may leave their new Chocobo at the Chocobo Farm or take it back to Aqures Ixen. The color and gender of the newly captured Chocobo are left to player discretion.
• x1 Regain
Jessie will give a regain for free to all those who participated in the battle against the Chocobo Eater. To be eligible for a free regain, players will have to provide proof of their character's active participation in the battle (a link to the thread with their participation will be enough).
• New Job
The Old Man in charge of the Chocobo Farm will give the Heroes of Light a new Job to help them with their new Chocobos. The nature of the Job will be revealed at the conclusion of the event. All characters participating in the event will automatically obtain the Job + a three month bonus on this specific Job. Characters who didn't participate in the event will be able to request it from Jessie once the event over.
• New Summon
If the Chocobo Eater is defeated, the Old Man in charge of the farm will offer a new Summon to the Heroes of Light. The nature of the summon will be revealed at the conclusion of the event. All Summoners will be able to use this new summon following this event.

As a reminder, on the 20th of August, the Heroes of Light will finally receive their permit allowing them to board Airships from Shoopuf Airline© for free. The permit will be delivered to them in the morning by a special Moogle working for Shoopuf Airline. For a list of available locations and departure times, please refer to the monthly information post.
