Event: Genesis

Following the encounter with Kalki, all Heroes of Light blacked out, no matter where they were in this world-- What Kalki did or what happened, nobody knows. When the Heroes finally return to their senses, they're no longer in Aqures Ixen. They're in a completely different place, in a forest bordering a great city. A place that disappeared a long time ago... Aqures Tosf. The city that was destroyed twenty-eight years ago when experimentation on the Crystal of Fire went wrong. Yet, for all intent and purpose, the city looks even more radiant than Aqures Ixen, and it even seems as though a celebration just started.
Indeed-- All the Heroes of Light have been transported twenty-eight years into the past, on the Island of Aqures Tosf! Beyond that, it is the final week of the city before its destruction. For what purpose are they here and how did this happen? That is what they will have to find out... Feel free to ask questions and use this post to plot! Start your own threads to say what your character is going to do or share ideas!

The Heroes of Light will appear on the Island of Aqures Tosf, twenty-eight years in the past. It is the 27th of July and the first day of the Festival of Light. The city is brimming with activity and is filled with tourists and inhabitants, all celebrating while unaware of what is about to happen... The characters will wake up in a forest, next to the city and without their Moogles. They will however, still have their Crystals. Nobody will explain to them what is happening and they will have to figure it on their own.
The Beginning
In the forest, the first thing they will encounter is a little girl about to be killed by monsters. By helping and rescuing her, they may be able to start piercing together what is happening. The little girl will proceed to give them shelter in an abandoned Church she is familiar with, and will bring them food everyday.
This church will become their home for the remainder of the event, though they are obviously welcome to go elsewhere if they so like. But because they are in the past, they should be careful and not tell everyone who they really are.
Schedule
The Festival of Light runs from July 27th to August 03rd and characters will have the freedom to explore Aqures Tosf during it! For more information, please refer to the Aqures Tosf and Festival of Light sections below.
Meeting NPCs
While in Aqures Tosf, it may be possible for the Heroes of Light to meet many NPCs, some who are new and some they have met in the past, or rather, the future. In some case it may just be seeing a familiar face except far younger, in others it may advance the plot. It may also be possible for characters to meet their Moogle.
Indeed, if their Moogle were alive then and for a reason or another in Aqures Tosf, you can organize threads for characters to meet them. It is quite easy to explain why they would have been in Aqures Tosf this week: between the Festival of Light, the Mognet Strike and the Mognet Union Meeting, there is plenty of reasons for Moogles of any age to be in this city.
The Final Night
On the final night of the Festival of Light, the city will be destroyed, but before that the city will be plunged into chaos. A second OOC Event post will be posted to explain the details of the final day. More details will be given then as to what will happen and what your characters will be able to do.
Back to the Future
Eventually, the Heroes of Light will return to their proper place in time... Somehow. A final log will be posted to conclude the Anniversary event then.

Each worlds have their own rule for time travel, and Crystallis's rules are very simple... You Cannot Change History. If the characters try to change history and for example, save Aqures Tosf, it'll lead into a time paradox. A time paradox means a number of things, ranging from the destruction of Crystallis to the destruction of the universe and the worlds every characters come from. Of course, Crystallis itself will prevent time paradoxes by attacking anyone trying to disturb the order of things. It means your characters may experience Crystal Stasis or worst if they attempt to change the future.
However, some events are predestined and already part of History. Likewise, some events have yet to happen for the Heroes of Light and they can influence their own future. Finding a balance between what they can influence and what they cannot influence could change a lot for the future of the game...
None of these rules will be explained to them ICly. They will have to figure them out for themselves, or fall victim to time paradoxes.

The city of Aqures Tosf once represented the peak of civilization in Crystallis. Heroes of Light will be able to see it as it was then. The city itself is similar in Aqures Ixen, in that it is divided in Districts, most which share a theme with those from Aqures Ixen. The city is mostly populated by Tarutaru (60%), followed by Human (20%), Moogle (15%) and Hypello (5%). On the outskirts of the city, the Tonberry, Malboro and Black Elemental monsters can be found. There are ruins in the forest surrounding the city, noticeably an ancient church where the Heroes of Light can take refuge.
For more details regarding Aqures Tosf, please take a look at this detailed page!

The Festival of Light is a yearly event held at either Aqures Ixen or Aqures Tosf to celebrate the victory of the "Heroes of Light" over the "Calamity from the Skies" two thousands years ago, or so do the legends say. Whether people believe in the legends or not, this is an occasion for them to have fun and spend time with family and friends. The Festival is held from the 27th of July to the 03rd of August.
And this year the Festival happens in Aqures Tosf! There are countless activities for characters to take part in-- Those who have been in the game since the very start may be familiar with it, but there are also a couple new things! Below are listed the most notable ones.
Exposition of the Festival of Light
The dome in the 03rd District is open to visitors and is home to many relics from the Ancients. All the technologies characters may have seen in Jessie's laboratories or the Research Center can be seen here as well, even the strange cubes that were contained in the sub-levels. However, the most noticeable object on display is Ultima Weapon. The Weapon cannot be hacked even by Hackers and is completely inactive. Yet, it seems to have a strange effect on all who look at it, many people expressing how afraid they would be if this weapon was to suddenly awaken.
Besides Ancient relics, there is also a section dedicated to Eidolons. Bahamut seems to be the Eidolon put on a pedestal, with an entire wall dedicated to the lord of all Eidolons.
Culinary Attractions
What would a festival be without free food and banquets? Not really a festival. In the Shopping district, there is a banquet and many stands held by people from all over the world-- People from Balicea, Aerilon, Esdham, Flence and yes, even from the small and weak Kingdom of Hera. All kind of food from all over the world can be found here-- Refined food, pastries, cakes, cooked meals, etc. It's virtually impossible not to find something to like in all of this, and it's all free for the duration of the Festival!
The Opera
In the Opera, there is a play every days: the 4 Heroes of Light! Characters may be familiar with this play, but this one is a Opera version, nearly entirely sung and far more dramatic than any iterations of the play so far. The main characters appear to be four Heroes of Light, respectively dressed as a Warrior, Monk, Black Mage and White Mage. Other characters include the Calamity from the Skies, an Ancient scientist, the Leader of the Ancients and the Princess of Crystallis.
As the play unfolds, there is a love story between one of the Heroes of Light, the Warrior, and the Princess of Crystallis. At the end of the play, the Heroes of Light successfully defeat the Calamity from the Skies, but they die in the process of doing so. Their death was caused by the Scientist of the Ancients, whose obsession with the Calamity nearly caused them to fail. Out of sorrow, the Princess of Crystallis commits suicide and only the leader of the Ancients remain, who decide that the world shall be born anew, to erase the sorrow the previous generation has known.
Trano Golsaucia's Stands
As is usual for the Festival of Light, stallholders from Trano Golsaucia have traveled to Aqures Tosf and brought a few attractions to display what they can do. Noticeably, they brought Chocobos and will organize numerous races throughout the week, on an improvised tracks running around the Residential District. The Heroes of Light are more than welcome to try and bet, should they want to lose (or multiply) their Gil. If they feel adventurous, they may even try to enter one of the races and ride a Chocobo-- At their own risks.
Aside from this, there are some more attractions worthy of attention. There is a shooting stand-- Once again, all the targets are vaguely similar to the main antagonists of numbered Final Fantasy games. There is a treasure chest game, where characters are presented with ten chests and can open only one-- Prizes range from one Gils to gigantic plushie. There is also a fortune teller Moogle, the same one from Trano Golsaucia, except noticeably younger. He will predict to every citizens of the city that they are about to die and that this city will be lost. Nobody pays attention to him of course. ... Maybe they should.
If Heroes of Light approach him, he will simply state that he cannot see anything in their future, and that he is perplexed because it's never happened before.
Competitions
There is a Blitzball Competition taking place during the Festival of Light! Characters are free to go and watch the matches, so long as they can pay for the tickets. The Heran Team is the one that shall ultimately win the Competition, followed by the team of Balicea in second position and the one from Aerilon in third position.
At the same time, a Triple Triad competition will is taking place. Characters are free to enter the Triple Triad tournament if they so wish. Characters who have learnt to play Triple Triads in the future have fair chances to win, though there is no prize for them to get back-- Just their names to be written in history. And even if your characters lose, but what matters is trying, right?
Fireworks
Fireworks will be launched from the Castle of Aqures Tosf starting 23:00 and will end at midnight, everyday of the Festival. No matter where you are in the city, anyone should be able to watch them easilly if they so wish. Unfortunately, it means falling asleep before midnight may be a bit hard with all the noise.

• Triple Exp
Anyone participating in this event will have triple experience for the month. Practically speaking, this means their equipped Jobs will progress of three months instead of one! They can store this exp thanks to the Exp Orb if they participated in the event last month.
• New Job
Depending on the outcome of the event, characters participating in the event will have access to a new Job with a three months bonus.
