Event: Terra Incognita

After so much time, the Enterprise is finally complete! It is the most massive Airship in Crystallis, it is deadly and it is one of the fastest. The Heroes of Light may all have their own quarters given to them aboard the Airship if they request it. Most importantly, with this very special airship the Heroes of Light can now reach the Continent of Ruins. A first expedition will go to the Continent of Ruins very soon now.

And with this, the outcome of the game depends on what the characters are going to do, not only during events but also outside of events. With the Enterprise opening up the world, the characters will have a lot more freedom and a lot of secrets and locations will never be explored during Mod Events: you may have to take initiatives and dig through player plots and the likes to discover some secrets. The Log for the expedition will be posted on the 18th! If you have any questions or want to ask questions, feel free to ask them here!

• New Races
Humans, Moogles, Tarutarus and Hypello-- They do not exist on the Continent of Ruins. Instead, the natives belong to four new and difference races. On the other end, the Chocobos and Eidolons are the same, as are most animal species. Life is harsher on the Continent of Ruins, due to civilization having taken much longer to rebuild itself after the war against the Calamity thousands of years ago. Technology is slightly more advanced due to the abundance of Ancient Ruins in the open. However, Airships haven't been built yet, let alone conceived.

ELEZEN
The Elezen are the equivalent to the Human on the Continent of Ruins. They are the dominant sentient race on this continent, at least as far as politics are concerned. In sheer numbers, they are second to the Bangaa. They can be found all over the Continent of Ruins, but especially in Mysidia. They are widely considered to be nomads.

Elezen in the world of Crystallis are similar to Elves from various legends and are better than humans with magic-based Jobs. However, their lifespan is identical to that of Humans. They've tried to pierce the secrets of the Mysidian Tower for the longest time, but have failed to do so. Their technology is slightly above what is found in the rest of Crystallis, thanks to the abundance of Ancient Ruins and items to scavenge and study.

PRIMAL MOOGLE
Having spent tens if not hundreds of thousand years separated from the regular Moogles, these Moogles have followed a different evolutionary path. They are taller than regular Moogle and have more Tarutaru-like proportions. Nevertheless, they are still small, cute and fluffy creatures that everyone on the Continent of Ruins love. They are far less numerous than the regular Moogles, but they meddle a lot more in politics and are far more adventurous.

Primal Moogles have lost the powers held by normal Moogles. They can not fly nor can they interact with the Crystals, let alone manipulate them. However, in return they all can use Jobs, which is a rarity for normal Moogles. They run what they call Mogshops, their equivalent to Mognet, slower but selling items. They can often be found exploring the ruins in search of goods to sell. They love Gil and are reputed to go on strike whenever they're fed up with the other species.

BANGAA
The Bangaa are a lizard-like race, widespread across the Continent of Ruins. Like the Hypellos elsewhere, they are very different from the other species. In particular, their sense of smell and hearing are exceptionally sharp. They are physically powerful and tend to specialize in physical Jobs, leaving the magic-based ones to other species. They are the most commonly found species on the Continent of Ruins.

They are a rather proud people that doesn't meddle with politics that much. Their home is Downapolis, and they're working on Ancient technology there. Insulting them might as well result in a death sentence: anyone with a bit of wisdom will know better than to do so.

SHUMI (ELDER & MOOMBA)
A humanoid race with prominent hands, that is said to have rebuilt civilization in the Continent of Ruins after the Calamity from the Skies was defeated. They are special in that at an undisclosed period in their lives, a Shumi will evolve into a form most reflecting their personality. Most Shumi evolve into Moomba (far right picture), fluffy and friendly creatures. Only a few select evolve into Elders (middle picture), the wisest form of Shumi.

They are said to have helped building Downapolis, but few of them are found there. Out of the four races found on the Continent of Ruins, they are the least common. Rumor has it they know the secrets of the Ancient and the truth behind the Tree of Life. Many Shumi inhabit the Crystal Forest, while Moomba are far more commonplace everywhere else.

• New Monsters
While some monsters previously encountered will make a return on the Continent of Ruins, there are new species unique to this continent.

ADAMANTOISE
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Region of Mysidia
Drop: 5 000 Gil

A large turtle with high defenses and strength, it is very resistant and hard to defeat. It is not very dangerous however for well-prepared Heroes of Light, as it may easilly be killed with ice spells. It attacks primarily by creating earthquakes or attacking directly its enemies.

BEHEMOTH
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Plains of Sorrow, Region of Downapolis
Drop: Golden Crystal (10%)

The Behemoth is one of the deadliest enemies that can be encountered. It can protects and heals itself with magic, but it can also attack enemies with it. Behemoth is the only monsters that can use the Ultima spell, and be sure it will make use of it without any warning.

DRAGON
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Crystal Forest, Region of Mysidia
Drop: 20 000 Gil, Dragon's Heart (10%)

Dragons are very rare, and that's a chance. As they can fly, their mobility is beyond that of other monsters. They are as resistant as Adamantoise and more powerful than them. They are weak to ice and sometimes can drop a Dragon's Heart, which can be infused into weapons to double all physical attacks.

DRAGON ZOMBIE
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Crystal Life Tree
Drop: 10 000 Gil, Elixir (10%)

Dragon Zombies are defeated dragons that have refused to move on and return to the First Crystal. Whilst they are as dangerous as their regular counterpart, they are not weak to ice and can inflict status ailments. It is said however, there is a way to instantly kill them...

IRON GIANT
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Ancient Ruins, Mysidian Tower
Drop: 10 000 Gil

Weapons once created by the Ancients. Some are still active whilst some have been re-activated by the natives in an effort to understand Ancient technology. These machines are unparalleled swordsmen and their body is entirely made of metal. However, fire attacks work well on them and can get the best of them, as do gravity-based attacks.

LONG GUI
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Plains of Sorrow
Drop: 100 000 Gil

These gigantic creatures are big enough to just stomp of the Heroes of Light and kill them that way. They are not dangerous when left alone, but if attacked they will prove just stomping the ground may be enough to kill enemies after hours spent fighting. Indeed, killing them may take hours, sometimes entire days: a battle against them shouldn't be taken lightly. They cannot be taken as Monsters for a Beastmaster.

RAPTOR
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Region of the Temple of the Heroes of Light, Ancient Ruins
Drop: 20 000 Gil, Raptor's Claw (10%)

Fast, incredibly intelligent and agile creatures. On their own, they don't look like much. But Raptors never attack alone. If you see a Raptor, at least two more are around, hiding to ambush you when you least expect it. Their claws can rip apart a human within seconds, all the better for them as human flesh is their favorite dish.

T-REX
✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶
Location: Region of the Temple of the Heroes of Light
Drop: 100 000 Gil, Mythril (30%), Mega Crystal (0.5%)

The king of all monsters. Meeting one in battle is a dead sentence. You cannot outrun him, wounding him may take forever and it can kill anything that moves. Both magical and physical attack deal half-damages against it, and whether it is with its teeth, claw or tail, the T-Rex has the means to kill an enemy. The only monster more dangerous than the T-Rex is the Hamster.

GREEN DRAGON (FRIENDLY)
Location: Northern Continent of Ruins

This friendly Dragon will not try to fight upon encountering the Heroes of Light. Instead, it will ask them to give it a crystal: either a regular one they found, or their own. Upon doing so, the Green Dragon will grant them +1 month for both their equipped Jobs. Characters will die if they give it their own crystal, though they'll be back as usual.

FEATHERED RAPTOR (FRIENDLY)
Location: Southern Continent of Ruins

This wounded raptor will approach any Heroes it encounter and ask them to heal its wounds. If the Heroes do so, the Feathered Raptor will grant them +1 month for both their equipped Jobs. If they attack him, he will summon three regular Raptors before disappearing.

• New Locations

ANCIENT RUINS
Population: Primal Moogle (30%), Elezen (10%), Shumi (5%), Monsters (55%: Iron Giant, Raptor, Mech Gunner, Bomb)

The southern half of the Continent of Ruins is entirely covered in ruins, which extend past the Temple of the Heroes of Light and become scarce until disappearing totally in the Plains of Sorrow. The ruins are that of a very advanced civilization, that of the Ancients. While at first the place seems to be desolate, beyond monsters the ruins are also home to many people who are looking for Ancient technology, hunting or investigating history.

CRYSTAL FOREST
Population: Shumi (70%), Primal Moogle (5%), Bangaa (5%), Monsters (20%: Dragon, Tonberry, Skeleton, Mandragora)

A forest that covers all that remains of the Continent of Ruins once the Plains of Sorrow have been crossed. The trees in this forest are covered in crystal and those who can navigate the maze may reach the Tree of Life. This forest is also home to many Shumi settlements and a few other people who enjoy the setting. Before trying to go deep into the forest, asking advice to the people who live there might be for the best.

CRYSTAL LIFE TREE
Population: Monsters (Dragon Zombie, Skeleton, Zombie)

A gigantic tree made of Crystal, that can be seen shining at night even from the Plains of Sorrow. It is said this is the tree of life that controls the flow of souls on Crystallis. However, the tree is by far a mystery and very little is known about it.

DOWNAPOLIS
Population: Bangaa (50%), Elezen (20%), Primal Moogle (20%), Shumi (10%)

An underground city built by the Bangaa and the Shumi. In the Continent of Ruins, this city is simultaneously the equivalent of Aerilon and Trano Golsaucia. This is where Ancient technology is analyzed and where many try to revive the secrets of the Ancients. The place is also home of the Cult of Narayana, a society that believes the Heroes of Light are emissary from evil and that Narayana, also known as the Calamity from the Skies, is meant to deliver Crystallis from suffering.

LUNAR GATE
Population: Shumi (100%: Moomba)

An abandoned Ancient facility. It seems there are traces of technology other than Ancient there, but failing to understand it, the natives have abandoned it. Only Moomba remain there. The purpose of this place is unknown.

MYSIDIA
Population: Elezen (45%), Bangaa (35%), Primal Moogle (20%)

The main city and country on the Continent of Ruins, albeit smaller than Downapolis. The people living in this city are said to excel in magic. Because war has not erupted on this continent in a very long time, Mysidia prospers faster than any other city in Crystallis besides the Imperial City of Hera. It serves as the equivalent to Aqures Ixen on this continent, as people from all over the continent meet there and stay there before going back home.

MYSIDIAN TOWER
Population: Monsters (Iron Giant, Mech Guard, Mech Gunner)

An abandoned tower of Ancient design that reaches out to the sky. Adventurers from Mysidia and Downapolis have gone as far as the 27th Floor, but even then they've not close to reaching the top. The purpose of this tower is unknown.

PLAINS OF SORROW
Population: Monsters (Behemoth, Long Gui, Malboro)

These plains are said to be where the Heroes of Light fought the Calamity and emerged victorious. The people on the Continent of Ruins go there to pray to the Heroes of Light, whilst those belonging to the Cult of Narayana pray to the Calamity. The soil is always gray and it is said nothing has grown in this place ever since the legendary battle.

TEMPLE OF THE HEROES OF LIGHT
Population: Monsters (T-Rex, Raptors)

A temple somehow related to the Heroes of Light. Most of it is in ruins and destroyed, and none but monsters frequent it. There are inscriptions in the tongue of the Ancient all around, though none so far have managed to decipher them.

On the 18th, the Heroes of Light who so desire will board the Enterprise and reach the Continent of Ruins, more specifically, Mysidia. There, they will be introduced to some new NPCs and learn about what awaits them. This isn't a proper event, so nothing too exciting is going to happen besides a lot of discussions and discovery. Some of these newly introduced locations may be explored in the future-- However, some will not not be introduced through Events. If you want to pierce every secrets of Crystallis, you will have to explore these new locations on your own or make Player Plots that will tie into the main plot.

Piercing the secrets of certain of these locations may then change affect the main story and bring about new Events related to your discoveries. What to do from here on, is your choice. If you want to be apart of the expedition, please sign-up in the appropriate thread!

• Double Exp
Anyone participating in the expedition OR in one of the three ongoing Player Plot will have double experience for the month. Practically speaking, this means their equipped Jobs will progress of two months instead of one!

• The Enterprise
Following the end of the event, the Enterprise will become available. The service to request use of the Airship will open on December.
