Event: In Your Worst Memory

On May 27th, the Heroes of Light will be visited by a new NPC that will take them to a world made from their memories. There, they will relive their most painful memories. In certain cases where such memories do not exist or are not impactful enough, you can choose to play scene from the characters' future or from an alternate universe. Characters will physically disappear from Crystallis for the duration of the event and will be nowhere to be found. Indeed, this is not a dream.
However, characters will not be alone to relive said memories, as other Heroes of Light will be at their side to help them go through it-- Or wonder what strange world they come from. The deadline to sign up is the 27th of May!

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. An ethereal figure appears before you and calls you out. The world around you freezes and within a split second, it all collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.
Does it sound familiar? It should. As said in the introductory paragraph, characters will physically disappear from Crystallis for the duration of the event, from May 27th to May 30th. A lot less than three days may pass for the characters, or a lot more depending on the duration of the memories-- Either way, they will be gone for three full days. Their Moogles and all characters not participating in the event will doubtlessly have a lot of reasons to sulk during these three days.
• The Memory
The Memories have to be something painful to your character, something from their past or something from their future they refuse to face. When no such memories exist, it is possible to use headcanon or to use an alternate universe memory. Preferably, it shouldn't be a memory that will leave them unaffected; otherwise it defeats the purpose of the event.
Upon signing up to relive a memory, you will have the responsibility to handle the scene for all the characters witnessing the memory. It implies setting up the scene, playing the appropriate NPCs present in the memory and how events evolve. You do not have to be alone to do this however-- If it is too much for you to handle, you can get external help to play the memory. Furthermore, in the case of a memory shared by an entire cast, the responsibility of handling the memory can be divided between members of the cast.
All of the memories will have a twist, which the moderators will hand out to the players in charge of the memories. It may be a Boss Battle or something that shouldn't be in the memory, but more often than not it will be something twisting the knife in the wound.
• Memory Types
All characters can visit any memory they want; there is no limit. Even characters handling a memory of their own will be able to visit the memories of other characters. There is no conscious choice to visit a memory. Once a memory over, they'll find themselves transported to another memory regardless of whether they want it or not. For those of you handling a memory, are three types of memories you can pick from for this event:
- Passive Memories
Passive Memories are memories your characters cannot interact with. They can watch as the events unfold, but they will be like ghosts to the in-memory characters.
- Interactive Memories
Interactive Memories are the contrary of passive memories: your characters will be able to interact with the characters from the memories to an extent, but even so they will not be able to alter the course of history. These memories harder to handle, as by design they involve playing the NPCs and elements relative to the memory a lot more.
- Mixed Memory
A Mixed Memory is a memory that is a mixture of Passive and Interactive: for example, you may not be able to interact with the characters in the memory, but you may be able to fight monsters and interact with elements of the dungeons for memories taking place in such a place.
Something very important to keep in mind for Interactive and Mixed Memories: the course of events cannot be altered, no matter what your characters try to do. If there is a character who is doomed to die in the memory, they will die. Your characters may find a way to save the doomed character, and for an instant it will seem as though they managed to modify the memory. But something else will unavoidably happen to kill him or her anyway.
• Powers
Characters participating will lose all of their Job powers for the entirety of the event, in fact, they won't even have their Crystal any more. However, in return, their regular powers and abilities will be returned to them for all the event.
• In-Between Memories
Sometimes, between two memories characters participating in the event will be able to speak with the NPC that visited them and seemingly took them to this world made from their memories. Doing so may reveal some key information, but each character only get one shot at that. At the end of the event, the new NPC will return for a shared scene with everyone.
• Sign-Up
You have to sign-up only if you want to handle a memory. Characters who will simply hop from memory to memory do not have to sign-up. To do it, please fill the following form:

• Double Exp
Anyone participating in this event will have double experience for the month. Practically speaking, this means their equipped Jobs will progress of two months instead of one!
• Pirate Job
Characters participating to this event will receive a three months bonus for the Pirate Job (four if they contributed to buy it from O'aka).
However, characters will not be alone to relive said memories, as other Heroes of Light will be at their side to help them go through it-- Or wonder what strange world they come from. The deadline to sign up is the 27th of May!

The part after Validar falls would be passive, and people get to watch Chrom get shanked. D:
Does this sound cool? Which is also a question for my cast! :E

I know it says memory as in single but It can't hurt to ask yes? XD

QUESTIONS
And due to the nature of the game Ib is from, a lot of the horror comes from not being able to do anything but run away from the enemies. You survive by being quick and clever, not strong. Obviously many of the characters in this game could simply burn the gallery to the ground with their canon powers restored. Would it be possible to place specific power restrictions in a memory?
Also will the people running the memories be able to put a cap on the number of visitors? Just so we don't get more than we can handle.

Characters are only visiting memories as spectators/visitors and this includes the character whose memory it is? So if I were to sign up a future event for Sephiroth, Crystallis-Sephiroth would be in effect watching it unfold around another version of himself or will he be experiencing it from his own viewpoint? So it's not so much of a reliving but watching it happen?
On the same thread of thought, only as it's quite mind-bending; does your character have to be present to their own memory?

SIGN-UPS
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: MarKus Haley
Canon: Super Robot Wars: Unlimited Generation @lpha (specifically, an OC created for the former RP setting based on the Super Robot Wars series)
The Memory: The L-Boat (Fafner in the Asure: Heaven and Earth OVA finale)
The event consists of a reliving of a 2 week 'distraction tactic' in which a handful of newbie-to-rookie mecha pilots have to fend off creatures known as "Festum". Supplies and space are limited to a submersible aircraft carrier (like the Helicarrier in The Avengers movies). Patience and hope runs thin as the days go on. Pilots and support crew are picked off bit by bit by the Festum until the final day where one man gives up his life for the sake of thousands...
Memory Type: Interactive. Very interactive.
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: Captain Jack Harkness
Canon: Doctor Who Universe
The Memory: The Year That Never Was. Specifically, the events we're going to be witnessing occur between the Doctor Who episodes "The Sound of Drums" and "Last of the Time Lords." Jack and the Tenth Doctor have been captured by fellow Time Lord and psychopath The Master. The Master has effectively conquered the Earth, using an army of "aliens" known as the Toclafane. Jack and the Doc are unfortunately stuck on board the HMS Valiant, a flying aircraft carrier that would rival the one from SHIELD. Lots of guards and security both human and Toclafane completely brainwashed by the Master, and even if Jack could break out, there's not really a place to escape to.
Not that that's stopped Jack from trying! The scene in question is going to be the aftermath of one of these escape attempts. Jack has been recaptured, and the Master is coming down to take out his boredom on Jack (having a guy who can't die around has been entertaining for the Master) as well as give him some news from down on Earth. Supposedly, the Toclafane have found and killed the Torchwood team. But will Jack believe him?
At the end of the memory, whether the players have succeeded in getting Jack loose or not, Jack will die again, and the Doctor cannot be rescued. Content warnings for torture, death, and really hammy acting.
Memory Type: Interactive.
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: Gaston
Canon: Disney's Beauty and the Beast
The Memory: The Beast will make off with your children! He'll come after them in the night! We're not safe till his head is mounted on my wall! I say we kill the Beast!
More specifically, the memory will be in two parts ideally. Gaston rousing the crowd to lead them to the castle, and then his battle with the Beast ending with his death.
Memory Type: Interactive
no subject
Character: Luke fon Fabre
Canon: Tales of the Abyss
The Memory: During this moment in time (spoilers for those who haven't played).
Memory Type: Passive.
Ramza
Character: Ramza Beoulve
Canon: Final Fantasy Tactics
The Memory: Zalbaag's Return In order to prevent Ramza and crew from interfering with his plans to resurrect Ultima, Folmarv revives Ramza's dead brother Zalbaag using the power of the Zodiac Stone and forces him to battle Ramza. Zalbaag regains enough control to beg Ramza to mercy-kill him, but is unable to prevent himself from attacking. Ramza has to slay him in order to pursue Folmarv and rescue his sister.
Memory Type: Mixed. I figure the dialogue for the Ivalicean characters will be fixed, but any characters tagging along can add their input, and the battle will be more interactive.

Character: Johnny D'Amico
Canon: Original
The Memory: Once upon a time in Exsilium, the Initative attempted to send someone back to their home world. And it worked! Unfortunately caught wind of it and followed them into that world. Said world resembles our own almost exactly, except it's 2002.
The United Earth sent everything they had at this world and destroyed it utterly, securing its resources for themselves first. They took out major cities, killing anything that moved by bombings, or sending their genetically engineered super soldiers at them in huge numbers. In a matter of eight hours, the Initiative arrives and then retreats, completely helpless against the might of the UE. A group of barely trained people numbering in the low hundreds had no chance against the UE's thousands, and their apocalypse-causing might.
Johnny arrived in New York, horrified to see his home town (or an almost exactly identical AU of it from ten years in his past) destroyed. He had no armor and nothing but a woodaxe for a weapon, but he managed to fight fiercely for several hours. He eventually succumbs to his wounds and dies in the arms of a close friend.
The event log is here. Coincidentally, Elmer was also my character so I'm well acquainted with this log, if there are any questions.
Memory Type: Passive.
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: Anthy Himemiya
Canon: Revolutionary Girl Utena
The Memory: The duel called Revolution, where Utena challenges Akio, The Rose Gate is revealed and generally all hell breaks loose. Anthy betrays her Prince and The Rose Bride is used for her true purpose. (Spoilers for the end of the series).
Memory Type: Mixed. The environment of the final duel shifts, so viewers of the memory will be able to interact with anything that Memory!Anthy, Utena or Akio do not interact with directly. They will also be able to speak to the Phantom of Dios that appears.
no subject
Character: Asbel Lhant
Canon: Tales of Graces f
The Memory: Asbel will be reliving a memory from his childhood when he and his friends journey through an underground passage at night to meet up with Prince Richard who'd promised to give them a tour of Barona Castle. Sophie, who has been getting a bad feeling for some time, tries to convince the children that it's too dangerous, but Asbel assures her that everything's just fine. Little does he know, the consequences will stick with him for the rest of his life...
I will happily go into more detail if necessary, but I'd like to avoid EARLY GAME SPOILERS for those who haven't played the game yet. (...Shock value?) There's also a related plotline with MAJOR SPOILERS that takes place just afterwards that we may try to incorporate or at least hint at. Although I'm not sure on this yet.
Memory Type: Mixed; visiting characters will have the opportunity to explore the catacombs at will as well as engage various small fry monsters. They will also be able to fight "the Monster shrouded in shadow" and attempt to help Sophie and the children if they so wish.
I envision that the children's dialogue/interactions will be more-or-less fixed to canon, and that the interactive highlight is the fight with Sophie and the Monster. I'll be NPCing Asbel and the Monster. Mai has offered to NPC Sophie and possibly Cheria. I can provide information on the environment to anyone wanting to explore as well.
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: Albel
Canon: Star Ocean 3
The Memory: His father's funeral procession. Not shown in game, headcanon assumed details for Elicoor ritual/tradition for a hero's death. Albel will be sans gauntlet for the entirety of the memory.
Memory Type: Mixed, though leaning toward passive. Since this is not an in-game scene, dialogue and events are very open to interpretation/interaction, but the funeral cannot/will not be stopped. Albel also cannot travel far from the main procession; should he attempt to do so, the streets will mysteriously bring him back to the main road as if he must watch. However, he and others can enter shops & alleys within two blocks of the street, from where the general event can still be seen/heard.
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: Jade Curtiss
Canon: Tales of the Abyss
The Memory: The time 12-year-old Jade accidentally killed his teacher, Professor Gelda Nebilim, and then attempted to make a replica of her helped by his friend Saphir. The replica Nebilim turns out to be unstable and violent -- practically a monster, only human in appearance. After Jade tries and fails to stop her, the replica escapes.
Since the scene is only briefly touched upon in the game, I'll be using supplementary material (specifically the Reminiscences of Jade manga) to fill in the blanks.
Memory Type: Mixed, leaning towards passive. For the most part the memory will be passive, but if people want to have a fight against Replica Nebilim at the end of it, they can. The replica won't be quite the super boss she would become years later, but she's still very powerful.
no subject
Character: Fayt Leingod (And Nel Zelpher, player permission given to list her)
Canon: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
The Memory: The battle between Airglyph and Aquaria on Aire hills, as well as it's chaotic conclusion. The memory takes place on an active battlefield, and there's two armies clashing all around during it. Eventually a large battleship will show up and blast both sides of the battle with disastrous results. Starts shortly before the battle with Vox, ends once the Vendeeni are taken care of.
Memory Type: Mixed, more Interactive than passive. Soldiers can be engaged in combat, some of them infantry in armor, some mounted on horse-like creatures or dragons. but once the Vendeeni battleship shows up and starts it's assault there's really nothing any of the Heroes can do but run, with the ship far out of range of any possible attack.
Re: SIGN-UPS
Character: Ventus
Canon: Kingdom
HurtsHeartsThe Memory: This scene (8:02 - 13:42, excluding the flashback from 9:12 - 11:30), which will actually continue on past what Ven witnessed into this scene (3:24 - end of video).
To sum all of that up, Ven learns that his existence is a danger to the worlds and returns to his master, Eraqus, where Ven accuses him of imprisoning him for this reason. To protect the worlds from the apocalypse that Ven could inadvertently bring about, Eraqus attempts to kill him -- only for Ven's friend Terra to show up and save him. Terra throws Ven out. After a battle, Eraqus and Terra try to apologize to each other, only for the villain
Ven's ex-master, to bootto come in, strike the weakened Eraqus down, threaten to murder Terra's friends, and then tear apart the the trio's home before leaving. (◕‿◕✿)DON'T YOU LOVE THESE CHILDREN'S GAMES
Memory Type: Passive

Character: Doug
Canon: Rune Factory 4
The Memory: This memory deals with the massacre of the entire unnamed clan of dwarves Doug is part of. As it’s only briefly touched upon in canon, needless to say a lot of headcanon over how it actually went down is at work here. It will deal with Doug, currently away from his village after being sent on an errand by his father, only to hear screams coming from the direction of village.
When he rushes back he’ll find that the entire population has been slain, including his own family. Distraught, Doug is left on his own until some soldiers of the Sechs Empire happen across him, who are at first baffled that one survivor has managed to turn up.
At first, they’re at a loss over whether or not to kill him too until they figure out he hasn’t actually witnessed anything, nor is he aware of the Empire's involvement. This prompts one of them to bring up Ventuswill’s name and come up with a cover story on how she was directly responsible for the massacre. It's then he defects to the Empire and swears vengeance against the being seemingly responsible for this tragedy.
Memory Type: Mixed, with both interactive and passive elements. Characters will be able to interact with Doug, but he strangely won’t notice anything especially off about them.
In some cases, if they try to directly interact with Doug, he may even react as if something else entirely different was said. This applies even more so if characters try to interact with him after the massacre, as his reactions take a turn for the unsettling. Neither Doug or the Sechs military will recognize characters, instead potentially viewing them as fellow soldiers.
