It's time to explore the caves beneath the Crystal Life Tree and see if we can't make it down to the planet's core! It's only 4000 miles down or so, what could go wrong?

The exploration takes place between the 10th and 16th. Jade will have recruited people in the past few days, so feel free to handwave your character getting involved. A log will go up on Monday, but you can keep signing up -- there's no deadline. Under the cut is an outline of how the log's going to be structured!

With the Calamity gradually consuming the world and the Cult of Narayana still in power, several of the Heroes are planning to attack Downopolis and capture/kill the two leaders. Previously, Ellie lead a reconnaissance mission and discovered that the heads of the Cult were a man and a woman with a Bard job, and Ales would give more detailed information to the Heroes participating in this plot.

Biggs has approved of the plan, but he and the other nations won't be able to provide support. Intelligence gathering can be handwaved, but it will have to occur during the end of September.

This plot will take place on October 1st to the 07th, and will be partially modded. The Heroes will go in knowing that their lives will be at risk if it comes down to a fight, but players will decide OOCly if they want their characters to be killed off.

Please sign up below and use the comments to work on a plan of attack. Good luck!

EDIT: Here is the link to the thread where Ellie and Malik shared their intel.

Forgive the delay in getting this up but I've been a bit tied up in the real. In any case a while back Kidd uncovered evidence of the existence of the Diamond Weapon in the north of the Lost Continent. She sat on the information at first, only speaking of it to people she trusted out of concern primarily of a leak or an overzealous response.

The vision by the Sage offered her an example of the fear she didn't want to consider. One of the Heroes deciding to use it against a civilian population.

However, with the Calamity encroaching there is no further time to mull things over. The choices are to leave it and let the Calamity have it or find it and do something about it. Of course, there's the risk of Palitutu wanting it, but her intel as of late has been saying otherwise.

In any case, the call went out some weeks ago looking for support in locating it and, if necessary, destroying it. Of course there are a few who seek to add it to the Heroes' arsenal, especially as Palitutu has the Ultima Weapon.

This plot begins on the 25th and will go up as soon as I am able. Due to the approach of Anime Next on June 10th and my obligations to it, Malik's player will be my second on this plot.

So now that Cloud & Friends are (in the process of) dealing with Whitebeak, it's time for Phase II of the chocobo plot! By now, characters may discover that chocobos are much harder to find if they set out to catch their own. This doesn't mean you aren't allowed to have chocobos anymore, but you might notice it if you're trying to find one to use in the upcoming races. If you can't find one, then maybe you could buy one, right?

What a grand idea! In fact, the merchants of Aerilon seem to have a wide variety of chocobos for sale, and buying one is available for the low, low price of only 300,000 Gil! Want one in a rare color? You might be able to haggle for one, and score a bargain at 3,000,000 Gil! The birds have become a profitable means of income for these merchants, and breeders are starting to catch the bug as well. They'll pay top dollar for breeding pairs and chocobo eggs, so if a Hero owns a chocobo and needs the money, there's certainly an increase in demand now that the quanity has shrunk. Chocobos are on every rich kid's holiday wishlist.

Of course, on the flip side, thieves who realize the profit to be had from selling an illegally obtained bird might start targeting people who own them.

OOCly, this means you can ping me for NPC thieves to come after your bird. If your character wants to investigate the situation, or participate in this ongoing plot, feel free to post and ping, and I'll let you know what happens. There are also a couple of stray, rabid chocobos running around the plains as well, though none quite so fearsome or destructive as Whitebeak.

Just to be clear, there won't be a giant multi-thread player plot post going up for this. You get to make your own posts and threads, so you can participate at your leisure, or not. Feel free to ask questions or pose plot ideas!

Making use of her connections through her Assassin Bureau, Kidd has been trying to gather information on Palitutu and Artemicion ever since they fled Aqures Ixen. Up until this point she hasn't been able to gather much information, and the recent hauntings prevented her from making a move.

Now that things have calmed down, she is eager to act before the trail goes cold. What she's willing to share publicly with any Hero is that there were sightings of a Tarutaru at the Imperial Palice shortly after Palitutu fled. There hasn't been any new intel in that area since. She's known this since September, but didn't feel the information was worth mass distribution.

On the other hand, she did learn in October that there were sightings of a particular moogle in Trano Golsaucia. Now that there seems to be a lull in local madness, she is going to take the chance to investigate. Letters will be sent out to those she feels she can trust and those she has spoken to about her Assassin Bureau with the intent of recruitment.

What this means: In game, on November 6 Kidd will be gathering her allies to try to stake out and hopefully capture Artemicion. While I do not intend to block people out of this, the group is being kept small and limited to the people she knows she can count on. Her thought is that success will benefit everyone, and a mass group of heroes showing up will just alert their quarry to their presence.

Hopefully this event will be wrapped up in time so it won't overlap with the Island of Memories event.

If you want to suggest your character for this mission, feel free to comment here. I can't promise everyone who does can come, but I'll have another post up later this month that will be open for everyone.

Also: Next weekend myself and a number of other players will be out of town for Nekocon. I will most likely be putting the IC post up on November 9th and backdating it to the 6th.

Hey everyone! Tohim here with another crazy plot to run past everyone. Ashe went the other day to ask for the Illusionist job, and stopped to ask Cid if he might know where the Heroes could illicitly procure a submarine from the Herans. He basically told her they could probably find one in Nabila City and that if she wanted her new job, she could go and get one already so people will stop asking him about submarines.

So she said fine.

So! Let's go get us a submarine! As you can imagine, this will take considerable planning. It will not, however, be run by the mods, though we are free to ask them questions about how this feat might be accomplished. This OOC plotting post will basically be standing in for an IC meeting, as this is just a job quest for one character and not a full-fledged event, or plot. However, as the consequences of this quest could be far-reaching, and could benefit the Heroes as a whole, I thought it would be a good idea to open it up to as many people as possible to either at least get your/your character's input on how this could all be achieved, and get characters involved IC-ly past the planning stages if you want.

I'll divide the discussion into several sub-threads to start off with, the focus for now being to make it a bit easier for everyone to look through/comment on what they want to. There will probably be more subjects that pop up as the discussion goes on - feel free of course to make a top-level with the topic of discussion in the headline of the comment. I can then edit this post with a link to the top-level.

“She looks so weak…”

“Aye, that’s so. The medicine was buying her some time, but with all the symptoms returning, she doesn’t…” The shopkeeper trailed off, shaking his head.

Ashelia felt the small girl’s forehead. “She’s burning up.”

“She’ll be gone soon.” The man seemed resigned to his daughter’s fate. “All these months without the potion…I’m just happy we got the time we did. This was bound to happen…”

The queen squeezed the child’s hand before standing to face the shopkeeper. “This seed is the only ingredient missing?”

“Aye. Baltoro’s Seed. The whole city’s suffering a shortage. En’t been seen on apothecaries’ shelves for nigh on half a year now.”

“Baltoro’s Seed.” Decision time. Was she going to be a Hero of Light? She didn’t especially want to be. “You shall have your seeds.”

“What? How?”

“Leave that to me. All I need from you is the map and the name.”

“H-here. Right here.” His hands shook as he gave her what she needed. “I don’t know –"

“You do not need to.” Her stock response when she didn’t have any answers.

Hey y’all! This is the intro post for my plot taking place this month, The Shopkeeper’s Daughter. The daughter of a shopkeeper in Aqures Ixen is terminally ill, and without the key ingredient for the medicine, she is fading fast. Unfortunately, Baltoro’s Seed, an important ingredient in Alchemy and Botany both, hasn’t been seen within or without the walls of the city for months now. Ashelia, of course, is determined to find them.

This post is to see what kind of interest there is in taking part in this plot as well as plan out how people can be involved in different ways, keeping in mind that there are max three posts planned for this plot.

1. Planning Post (After leaving a notice on Mognet, Ashelia will have a meeting with those Heroes wanting to help and they will plan what to do with the information she has managed to gather)
2. Mission Post – part 1 (the Heroes split up into two groups to investigate the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the seeds)
3. Mission Post – part 2 (a combat team will be needed to retrieve the seeds)

I don’t want to give too much away – not that this plot is that complicated or twisty – but the two groups for Mission Post Part 1 will be combat and non-combat focused, respectively. Ashelia will share the majority of the relevant information needed for the beginning of the plot in the Planning Post. Also, a reminder that everyone who participates in this plot will be getting 10,000 gil from Wedge!

The first IC post for this plot, the Planning Post, will go up the evening of September 10th. So, who’s up for some grassroots Hero of Light-ing?
